Opera on 2125...anyone got it working?

I tried installing Opera 8.5b2 on my 2125. It installs fine, and opens, but it seems to freeze the entire phone up at the initial "set as default browser?" prompt.

I did get Opera to work as a cheesy Java applet, but it's kinda lame and hard to use.

Has anyone gotten Opera to work on the 2125? If so, what version and how did you do it? Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you are trying to run a Pocket PC app on Smartphone platform. Such as it was, this was covered at one point.

If you go here and then here you download an executable called opera_wmppc5_85b2.cab AFAIK that is PPC only. But some seem to report a little success.

There's a thread in the Opera forums, complaining about the lack of Opera 8.5 for WM5 Smartphone. If you feel like it, create an account there and let them know you want the latest Opera for Smartphone.

Otherwise, you are left with Opera for Smartphone 2003 which works OK on my 2125 and is much better than Pocket IE.

After using Opera 8.00u1 during the free trial, I couldn't go back to PIE and ponied up the $29 for a license anyway.

The full version of Opera 8 is still better than Mini, but is it worth $29? I think so.
