The best is -- if you are using davinci -- to do the following: right before you flash, you first go and get the flash files, download the one you want (in your case then AMERICA1) making sure to get both the MAIN and the FS by clicking on both in the get file dialog. When that is done, the relevant fields will be pointing to the files you just downloaded. Then make sure you check the boxes on the left (flash MAIN, flash FS *and* Finalize) Put in the correct CDA then go to town. This is described more in detail in the first post of this thread. |

I created these instructions for those of you who were getting frustrated about this – like I was. The most helpful post on flashing on this forum came from the user Paco. Thanks Paco for leading the way!
A quick history on how I got here- I got my W810 for LALA West on EBAY last week. It was running R4CF002 firmware. Like many of you I could not talk on it for more than 5 minutes without dropping a call. I am using Cingular in San Jose,CA. After flashing my phone the dropped call problem went away! The software to I used to flash my W810 is free, but you need to pay for “log accounts” to use it. It will cost you one log account ($12 US) to flash your W810. The cable referenced as “DCU60” is the USB cable that was shipped with your W810. You use this cable to flash your phone with the new firmware. The steps to take – Buy a DavinciTeam log account- 1. Go here and purchase one log account. 2. After you pay, go back here then enter your paypal E-mail under “Lookup your (lost) login detail(s) + status”. Your Login and Pass is then E-mailed to you. For some reason mine was not automatically sent until I did this. Perhaps I’m just impatient. Download all the stuff you need to Flash your W810– 1. Create a directory on your C drive named W810 2. Download the USB driver for the DCU60(USB cable for your phone) and unzip it in this directory. 3. Download the W810 Client1594. DO NOT USE Client1595! You must use client1594 or IT WILL NOT WORK! Unzip and save the client in the W810 directory. 4. Download the following files from this site - W810_R4CE012_MAIN_GENERIC_HN.DVT and W810_R4CE012_FS_AMERICA1.DVT save them in the W810 directory Install and test USB driver/DCU60 Cable. 1. Connect your phone to the PC using the USB cable. When your PC detects the phone and prompts you for a driver point to the c:\W810\USBFlash folder. If your computer has already installed the driver try right clicking on the EPIUSB.INF then select install. (You might need to reboot after doing this) Other suggestions on how to load the driver on systems that have already loaded the default driver would be helpful. 2. Turn your phone off (you don’t need to worry about removing the SIM or memory cards yet) 3. Plug the DCU60 cable into your computer 4. Open the client1594 program. (Click on the Text “Sony Ericsson flasher/unlocker v15.94” this is a useless launcher that just confuses users in my option) 5. Under “Port Settings” Select DCU60 in the drop down. 6. Click on the “Read CID/Test cable” button 7. While holding down the “C” button on your phone plug the cable into the phone. (Remember your phone must be turned off) 8. If working you should see something like this – Select the files and flash your W810. 1. Unplug the cable from your phone 2. Open the cover and remove the battery (Your battery should be fully charged before you flash your phone) 3. Remove the SIM card 4. Remove the memory card 5. Reinsert the battery and close the cover 6. Enter your “Login” and “Pass” 7. Click on the “Update Settings” button 8. From the client1594 program select the Main and FS files you download into the c:\W810 directory. See screen shot. 9. Select the CDA as America 1. (there is only one America 1 you can select in the dropdown) 10. Check the "Finalization" box 11. Uncheck “Increase SMS Inbox volume” - Confirm your screen looks like the screen shot below. 12. Click on the “Flash” button 13. While holding down the “C” button on your phone plug the cable into the phone. 14. Watch as your phone is flashed. Takes about 4-5 min. (Do not remove the cable or do anything on your computer while the phone is flashing or you will end up with an expensive paper weight. (I was paranoid and continued to hold down the “C” button during the entire flash process. I don’t think this is necessary .) 15. When completed you will see the text that looks like this- Flash Finalization - successfull !!! Exiting Test mode. Please wait... Execution Time - 00:05:17 Done! 16. Disconnect the cable from your phone 17. Remove the battery 18. Plug in the SIM card 19. Plug in the memory card 20. Power on. It takes about 2-3 min for the phone to initialize the first time. You will see a progress bar. The client should look like this before you click the "flash" button DavinciTeam references - See the short somewhat broken DavinciTeam English version flashing your w810 here – (scroll down to the screen shot) DavinciTeam help on the USB driver/DCU60 test |

The driver was the biggest challenge for me. My computer had already loaded the Windows driver so I was not being prompted to install it. If the Davinchi software did not detect your phone confirm the following 1. Did you load the driver? If yes did windows prompt you for the driver when you plugged the phone in or was it a Right click then select install? I think the only “valid” driver install is when windows prompts you for it. I’m not sure. It would be nice if someone here knew. 2. Did the phone ever successfully communicate with your computer via USB? If not then it could be an issue with your computer or the cable. Remember the easiest thing to get around all this is to flash on a computer that you have never connected the phone to before. Windows will then prompt you for the driver. I did lots of stuff when I was trying to get my computer to detect the phone as a new device and prompt me for the driver. I’m not sure exactly what I did to finally get it to detect it as a new device. Here are some of the things I did. Sorry I don’t have a silver bullet for this one. I was hoping someone else would post more specific instructions on this part.. 1. Uninstall the Sony Ericsson software. 2. Reboot the machine 3. Right click on the driver then select install 4. Reboot the machine 5 Plug the usb cable into the computer 6. While holding down the “C” button on your phone plug the USB cable into the phone. (Remember your phone must be turned off)" At this point my computer detected the phone and asked me to select the driver. I think the driver install is the biggest challenge. (it was for me at least) Sorry I could not help any more. |
