SEEM 0032_0001 offset 14 - bit 0: Settings > In-Call Setup > My Caller ID > All Calls (1 on, 0 off)

this blocks name AND number display, so it shows as private or unknown number/name on the receiving end, if you want to block just the name display only and still show the number, then you have to call your provider and change the "username" or subscriber name on your account to "private name"

Or you could just call your provider and have them put a block on your account.

or you could just log into OLAM and go to features/avail features and all the new fee name block feature thats listed. This will block your name and only show your number.

Had this issue with Cingular myself. Call them and have them block all caller ID info. Then on your phone, program "*82" in front of the numbers you want the ID to show up on.

Don't know if this is correct, but I've been told that if you block caller id on all calls, then you don't get free mobile to mobile when calling other Cingular phones.

Strange that this doesn't work for me. My bit 0 was already unchecked and it broadcast my ID info. Checking it had no effect.

you have to go into the menu - settings - in call setup to see the NEW Menu item called All Calls, it should saynetwork controlled, if so then the block is at your network level and the people who answer the phones at cingular are the only ones who can fix it.

OR, you can simply type *67 before all calls. It works on ALL phones both land-based and cell phones. I prefer this method as I don't always want to block my name/number.

This is NOT true. It's the network that you are using that matters NOT how you call. As long as you call another customer on the Cingular network, then it is free mobile to mobile regardless of whether you block your number or not.

If that were true, then all those calls I made wouldnt be showing up on my Wireless bill but they are..

Secondly *67 is a legacy code, used for gsm companies for people who are so used to dialing the Bell landline code cus they are too lazy to remember the #31# and *31# gsm standard syntaxes. not all wireless companies will implement *67 or *82, its up to them.

I have a friend who has a related problem:

All the calls she makes have the callerID blocked. If she does "unblock" code prefix on a call the callerID does show up, but on the very next call the callerID is blocked again.

Is there a way to have the default be to ALWAYS show her callerID info when making outgoing calls??

This is on Cingular, btw. Thanks!

It's a setting in her phonebook that she needs to change. Also, call Cingular and make sure they aren't blocking her number from being displayed.
