I kinda text a lot.. around 2,000 a month.. but I like all the advanced features of the Nokia.. Much better camera etc. But I really like the SLVR's size and itunes.. ugghh what to dooo

I just bought a 6682 last Saturday and couldn't be happier. Like all Nokia's, It is very easy to use and is full of features. In no time, I had a POP3 email setup with a little help from another HOFO user. The main reason I switched from my 3120 is because the 6682 is far more legible and quicker with text messages and email. A great phone.

I doubt that that's a common problem of the 6682. Never heard anyone else complain about it.

One of my friends also had some problem with the 6682. He exchanged it for 8125. He seems to think Cingular version of 6682 has some problem. Unlocked and unbranded 6682s don't seem to have those problems.

Posted by: ElectronIntegra

If you value the MP3 player, the 6682 has a program that you can load on the phone, called ogg play that is a better mp3 player than iTunes and the stock one on the 6682. And there is no song cap on the 6682. Its however many your card can hold.

Mine is Cingular branded and havent had 1 problem yet.

Burned SIMs? Never heard of that. I have had my 6682 for a month now and love it. It can do anything.

Posted by: naviwilliams

It's simple, 6682!

Posted by: mcar33

6682 hands down. I also have the SLVR cuz I got it free from a friend, but almost never use it. Newest firmware 6682s are pretty reliable.

Defiently the 6682.

I had the SLVR after I switched from Verizon (had V3c) to Cingular. I thought it would be awesome having a phone smaller then the Razr, and not to mention Itunes. But overtime I found the phone was just to small and so unfortable to talk on or text on. The razr was better cause it had bigger keys.

So one day I was in the Cingular store somewhere in teh Minneapolis skyway and I tryed one of these out and it was awesome so I ended up buying one of these instead.

Awesome phone. Feels much better to type on and it feels much more confortable to talk on. I love all the advanced pictures and the camera is a little better then the 1 on itunes.

I did end up buying the V3i because it was the perfect size for me and still had itunes and everything I wanted. The 6682 was just to big, and plus I never keep a phone more then 2 months, I dont know why I just get bored with it and want the newest.

So defiently the 6682, if your choosing between the SLVR and 6682. You can only get the V3i unlocked, but it operates the same. You just gotta go on Cingulars site and get the MMS and MEdia Net settings because thats the only thing that doesnt work on the unlocked version outta the box.

I would say it depends on whether you want to play songs on your phone bought from Apple or not. If you don't care, then go with the 6682. The major drawbacks to the SLVR is it not EDGE and the camera isn't great. If you want/need playback of purchased music though, you don't have a choice.

when you get your 6682, though, do this:

put in your sim (or a dummy sim), turn the phone on, when it gets to the idle screen, type *#0000#. If it says it's 3.01.01, ask the salesperson for one from newer stock, or just go to another dealer. You want it to say 4.62.2. Reason is that the first firmware is older, and slightly buggy. It doesn't save call-logs between power cycles and it will repeatedly ask if you want to copy all your contacts from your sim to the phone memory. The newer firmware (4.62.2) doesn't do this. Also make sure you're getting a 3G SIM card (blue on one side, there's no reason you shoudlnt' be getting one) this won't get you 3G service, but it helps in stability in the phone for some reason.

Mine is eight days old and it's got firmware V 4.62.0 dated 10/28/2005. I hope it's devoid of bugs. Otherwise, is there a way to update the firmware on these?

i have a 6682 *3.01.01 and a slvr... The slvr is brand new and i havent even thought about using it yet...I love the 6682 too much. Only thing i like better about the slvr is the quality of the screen which imho is still better than the 6682...i've never been a huge fan of nokia screens; too bad my friends samsung a900 blows every screen out of the water

Posted by: koao

Lets check it out....

SLVR = can be modded, yes , yes (above 100 songs) , VGA, removable

6682 = more professional, suitable UI, 1.3 MP, removable

6682 wins. Although, if you had to choose between 6682 and w810i, I would choose w810i.

my bad, that's what I meant, 4.62.0. You have the current firmware

Another vote for the 6682. I nearly bought the SLVR instead, I'm glad I didn't make that decision.

The 6682 is far better than the SLVR...better screen, robust OS, better reception, better quality, better camera...I'd go for the 6682.

What about battery life? I've heard it has poor battery life. the 6682 that is.

Well I ordered Cingular the other day.. did it online through the business premier program.. and ordered 2 SLVRs (family plan).. so I'm going to test it out. I do have 14 days right? If I want to try out a 6682 can I take it into the store for an exchange or do I have to ship it back?

Get the 6682. It's not a Motorola.

I don't have any issues with the battery life of it. The good far outweights the bad...

You should have 30-days to exchange or return. I believe you have to mail it back to the business channel you got it from...corporate stores can only do exchanges from cingular.com or telesales. It's worth the trouble....

Posted by: CaliSurfer008

well I bought it through the cingular website.. just the business premier part...

Right. I don't think a corporate store will be able to exchange it. Call them and ask...and if they do, it will be at the store's price.

I guess you can factor in the Slvr being $29.99 when you sign a two year contract. Talk around these forums is that Comp USA has the deal that started today and a lot of people have purchased their phone today.

wow. i payed $200 for the phone... and the 6682 was only $179

I had the 6682 and didn't like it at all. Get the SLVR!

Posted by: what_up

SLVR is much better design. If you need a phone for making and receiving calls and play mp3 songs, go for the SLVR. If you need a better camera, go for the 6682. It has a little more features than the SLVR. You need to decide if you need the extra features of 6682 or better design and iTunes capability with the SLVR.

I have had the SLVR and the 6682 and I must say that the 6682 absolutely blows it out of the water when it comes to reception.

The SLVR would receive no service when I put it in my pocket in my entire office area. The 6682 stays at 2-4 bars in my pocket and never misses a call. I gets 5-7 in my office and the SLVR got 1-3 if I was lucky, sometimes no service in open air.

Everyone else's phones that I work with work just fine, no matter what the brand. The SLVR was that bad!

Get the 6682, unless reception is not an issue to you at all.

I have that firmware and have both bugs that you mentioned, not saving call logs during power cycle and asking to copy phone numbers between SIM and phone.

Luckily, I never turn my phone off. EVER. Though I think that I am supposed to in order to get SIM updates or whatever?

Anyway, I absolutely love my 6682. It's one of the longest runs that I have had with a phone, and I don't even have the urge to get anything different yet! I can't bring myself to since the reception is so much better than any other phone that I've ever had!

Posted by: 91silvy

I have (well had until a rollercoaster this weekend) both the SLVR and 6682, and I have to say the 6682 blows the SLVR out of the water. I got the 29.99 deal from CompUSA, so I can't complain about getting the SLVR, but going from such an advanced UI as Symbian to Moto's UI is like stepping back in time. Symbian's UI just seems to work much better for me. Text messaging also seems to feel better on the 6682 than the SLVR to me, the 6682 just seems to have better tactile feedback. Itunes is also a hassle for me, I would much rather just put my memory card in my card reader and transfer everything that way, like I do on the 6682.

Wirelessly posted (motorola razr v3c: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

6682, No contest.
The biggest problem I had with the SLVR was the keypad size because I have large fingers and I frequently text, you would probably have the same problem.

Posted by: xj911

the 6682 beats the SLVR in every aspect except size.

here are just a few ways the 6682 is better:
1. MP3 player is better (can download a lot of different ones) and can hold a ton more than 100 songs
2. Tons of Series 60 games and apps available
3. more of a smartphone, great for syncing up schedule, contacts etc...
4. better camera

Posted by: Spawnp800

i'm using my slvr until i get a warranty replacement for my 3.01.1 6682... its different, but usable. i do miss my good camera though

Posted by: richv77

I have heard that the 6682 doesn't come with any extra themes or wallpaper. Is this true?

Where can you get free themes and / or wallpaper?

Thanks.

Posted by: nadroj

Mine had a few on it, they were okay. You can get a ton of free ones on the web, but I'm not remembering any of the S60 sites off of the top of my head. A quick search on Google for S60 themes should pop up something.

Posted by: jkozlow3

Question for all the 6682 fans....how "pocketable" is the 6682? It seems kind of large to carry around and I ALWAYS carry my cell in my pocket. Thanks!

i have had the 6682 since january and love it...i don't think the slvr is even comprable (i have a dislike for motorola and am partial to nokia), but for what i am looking for it does everything and should hold me over until a feature packed umts phone is released....
as for its "pocketableness", i always keep my phone in my front pockets and have never felt uncomfortable with the 6682
