8125 LCD Smashed, Disassembly instructions? Where to buy LCD?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

well it had to happen, I broke this device. LCD is smashed, turns on and phone functions just fine considering the LCD.

i found pocketpctechs.com will replace the LCD for 169 plus shipping, so about 200 bucks.

Although I have always been a DIY guy and would like to give this a shot myself, that said...does anyone know where I can buy these HTC parts? specifically just the LCD?

anyone have one that is broken other than the screen and would like to sell?

If no one can find the LCD how about just a disassembly guide.

much appreciated.

Wirelessly posted (whatever the next lines says: Nokia9300/6.01 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 Mozilla/4.0 compatible; MSIE 5.0; Series80/2.0 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

try ebay they always have parts

For $200, you can buy a new 8125.

Same thing is true for Laptop as well. Replacement LCD screen equals or costs more than a new laptop.

for 200 i can get a new one!! where is that at? considering that it doesn't include signing any contract i'd be into that.

actually laptops would be OK, i have several of those screens lying around my house...might make quite the mod for the 8125 actually!!!

there's a few threads with links on where to purchase from fellow members that have had the same problem, do a search.

I'm in the same situation, and I just ordered an LCD on Ebay for ~$50.00. Does anyone have any info on swapping this? I'm a biomed tech, and quite familiar with taking things apart and putting them back together, but I also know that each of these devices have their q1uirks and secrets to do it properly. Any help anyone can contribute would be much appreciated.

There are a lot of hackers that would just take the screen out and Google for any part/information on it. That display is probably about 20-40 bucks.

Not a good link but you get the point!

A few months back I had the same issue with my phone not willing for spend out over $150 to send it off for repair I started to do some research.

Found http://www.repairsuniverse.com supplied the screen which included fitting guide for under $45. My husband fitted the screen in around 15 minutes and my phone is now fully working again.

8525 is a nice upgrade though, Tilt even tops that with GPS and more memory. I still miss my wizard though.
