Sun Rocket VOIP

This is a consumer alert to anyone considering using this system. Especially, if you have a business line. I listened to a guy's spiel about the service, the price was right, so I signed up. I received the GIZMO right before leaving for a business conference so I didn't have a chance to hook it up. While I was gone, my phone number was switched from AT&T and all I had on my phone line was a busy signal. I tried to hook up the GIZMO when I returned 3 days later, and could not. My phone number is a broadband line so I lost my phone and computer connections. It is now two weeks later and I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY PHONE NUMBER BACK FROM SUN ROCKET. AT&T is helpless and are at their mercy.

Please do not sign up for this service unless you are really, really tech savy and/or have good support. Sun Rocket does not have good tech support by any stretch of the imagination. I could not get anyone to give me any intelligent, knowledgeable help. And, of course, they don't make house calls.

If you want VOIP, I'd recommend Voicepulse. The service is very good (not flawless, and not the cheapest, but better than most)

I like Vonage. wish they had the Do Not Disturb feature.

I have had SunRocket for almost a year and a half now and have had a good experience with it. Most people I know who have tried it have found it really easy to setup. What seems to be the problem with connecting the gizmo?

I'm relatively happy with Sunrocket as well. Their gizmo didn't work correctly when it was connected to the DSL modem first, but is fine behind my router YMMV. Tech support was not very good and slow, when we could not make calls to mainland China and I'm unable to update my CC# on their website. But, overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the value of the service.

I think it's a matter of getting everything setup to your personal network. Everyone is going to have different issues and different solutions. All I can offer is my personal experience with SuNRocket, which has been very positive.

Thanks for the tip. I'll stick with SunRocket, given the fact that I use far more than 100 outgoing minutes per month. I like having both unlimited outgoing and incoming.

Anyone hear about SunRockets $99.99 a year deal, it was linked from tech Bargains.

Posted by: CurtisPulley

Yeah, it's a year deal for $99. Pretty amazing offer. After the year, you can automatically renew for the annual plan.

I think the OP's problem starts with calling an ATA a GIZMO.. LMFAO!

you need to have some idea of how networks and computers work before switching to a VoIP product..
