Awesome! That just saved me money, lol. I was thinking to get an unbranded 6126 and use it with Cingular. Unbranded so that I could have normal firmware and the network select ability - blocked on cingular firmware. But, if I can get a 6126 from Cingular and flash it to get the network select feature I can save some $$. Thanks! |

QUOTE=substance12] I've also read reports of people complaining that the 6102i (i think that's the phone) on cingular have said the volume is low. is it the phone or is it the network or is it dependent on person or dependent on phone? |
| It is the phone volume on the 6102i that is low. Take it from me, it is not up to the volume of some Nokia phones at all. I have used some really low end Nokia candy bar style phones lately that were much louder. It is not the network. |

If you have the phone flat on it's "back" (say on a table), the screen will flip open without trouble. But if you hold the phone straight up and hit the button, it may only have enough "oomph" to flip halfway open. The spring mechanism just isn't powerful enough to do that. However, I found it quite reasonable for normal operation. Opening/closing the phone manually without the button works just fine, too. |

They delay and delay.... the V3i was delayed not because the phone was crappy but because they wanted to put more digital rights management software in the damn thing. Nice job Cingular. |

The rumor floating around HOFO was that the phone might be cancelled and the battery was awful. I felt that was weird as they have no problem releasing LGs with poor batteries.... Anyways, the phone was sent back to Nokia because the plastic that protects the external display was getting scuffed and cracked!!! It had to be redesigned. It was a Nokia problem, not Cingular holding it up. The phone is first week of September at the earliest. Cingular market communications make it out to be possibly late August but thats not likely, much less even possible as I say this in the first week of August already. I'd look for approval towards the END of the 3rd week of August and retail availibility in the 1st or 2nd week of September. I also would NOT buy a 6131 as I'm willing to bet it has the faulty outer display. Just my two cents. Good luck. |

IMHO, it sound like a bunch of hooey. If Nokia has to remake the plastic display, I think it will be longer than a month to redo the phones. My guess is October. ![]() |

althought I've been reading this forum daily for a couple of months waiting (and waiting, and waiting) for this phone to come out.
But I just wanted to add that there have been numerous reports of the outer screens on the 6102 cracking. I've not only read them on the net, but someone in one of the Cingular stores told me he'd had several complaints because of it. When it first started happening, they didn't want to replace the phone because it wasn't a "known issue" and assumed (ie. accused) people were abusing the phone. Obviously, that didn't go over well. Perhaps there have been enough reports now that it's considered a known issue and if the 6126 uses the same screen, Cingular may have insisted Nokia replace it with something more durable before they gave final approval. |

Aren't the 6102i and 6103 made for Nokia by BenQ? The plastic screen of my wife's 6103 is a different size and IMO feels different than the screen of my 6131. I love my phone and hope others who are waiting for Cingular to release it will get to try this high quality product. Nokia's are more consistent in holding a good signal than any other brand IMO and they keep on working no matter what I put them through. But if the 6126 keeps getting delayed like this, I may have to give the Star Trek (Cingular 3125 made by HTC) a shot assuming it makes it on the market before the 6126. I REALLY need a new phone and can't wait forever.
