Unlocked PEBL sms Issue (Cingular)

Everything is working great, configured MEdianet and MMS and everything is working fine. The only thing and maybe someone here can help me out with this is that when someone sends me a text the incoming number has a "1"+areacode-number and its not recognzing the number because in my contact list all my domestic numbers dont have the "1". Problem is if i added the "1" to the numbers in the contact list, when someone calls it wouldnt recognize either because when a call comes in the Caller ID doesnt have the "1" in front of the incoming #...Got you confused yet? heheh Any help would be appreciated.
