Terminate program

Isn't there an easier way to terminate a program instead of going back or "minimize"ing it?
I hate to go back to task manager everytime, and don't want to install a plugin that runs all the time..
Can I map a button on the phone to terminate the program I am using. Mostly WMP, PIE, or the Camera applications bother me the most, since they take big amount of space on the program memory.
Thanks.

Well if you refuse to install anything else, or make any modifications, then your answer is NO.

Of course I am willing to make modifications, but not in the terms of memory hogging installations (Normally the taskbar type of programs occupy extra space on the RAM, which is the last thing I need)
I can probably map a button to terminate/kill the program via registry, but need to know how.

Depends on what you want to do...closing a single app, really no way other than killing it thru Task Manager, unless the specific app has an 'exit' selection from the menu inside the app.
But, if you don't mind shutting down ALL running applications, then yea, look at Oxios CloseApps and Oxios Hibernate, I belive they are in one product now called Oxios Memory or something...
Anyway...you can install that, then assign each app (CloseApps and Hibernate) to speed-dial...no overhead at all b/c those apps just run and shutdown after they close everything else.
Works great for me, use it all the time.

Sounds great, here is the link to it, and even supports QVGA,

However, I am a bit reluctant to close all apps, instead of a single one that I don't need anymore.. But programs seems like a good one.

You can also try xbar. It's pretty awesome.

I did, xbar gave me a lot of problems for some reason. I could not go back to home at all, it would just get stuck, and fix itself after a boot. I coulnd't find the reason, so I uninstalled it.

Which version? I'm running 3.2, and it's a nice addition. Works perfectly for me.
But, in actuality, it was pretty convenient enough for me to use the task manager to close apps before.
Why don't you just assign the task manager to the t-zones key? How much time could it really take to hit that key, scroll to the task you want to kill, then press "7?"

You are right, maybe I should assign it to tzones or just assign a shortcut to it..
Do you know the shortcut plugin? I wanted to replace the last used icons with shortcut plugin, but couldn't find the standalone cab..

You mean facade's launcher?
Posted by: hyedipin
Can we install just the launcher itself? I don't think they have that seperately, and we have to buy the whole thing. (and I still couldnt find the .9 you mentioned)
Posted by: Swivel
Yeah, you can plug in the launcher on it's own.
Posted by: hyedipin
I cannot find 0.9 anywhere.. I will try looking harder for that.

Yeah, sorry. I can't remember exactly where I found it. Look around on MoDaCo.

I will, thanks.
