ROM for Qtek 8310

Has anyone that bought an Qtek 8310 from Mad Monkey Boy found an "official" site to download the new ROM? I was told that my "official" support site was http://www.qtekcorp.com/, but this site does not have the ROM available for download. When I enter my IMEI number the site directs me to a repair shop in Europe. I'm in the US. I tried to get it from other Qtek sites, but I can not download the ROM from those sites using my IMEI. Anyway, I'd like to get an officially supported ROM and install it in a way that won't void my warranty.

Anyone?

I'm in the same boat as you...I've been trying to find this out for quite a while now. I'm really starting to regret choosing the Qtek over the I-mate...the new firmware has been available at the "my I-mate" site for a couple months already!

Alas, we seem to be alone at this point...

i have an exe version of the latest firmware all you do is conect the device and hit the exe file and does the update.

its an official release too nothing dodgy i did it to mine however it locks your phone so you will need to application unlock it afterwards also it gives the device a new device code thus meaning youo will have trouble reinstalling tomtom

and becouse you up date the rom your self as you would woth the online service you have no paperwork to proove to tomtom you have flashed the phone they think you are trying to bootleg there software for another device

so be warned

you can get the down load from modaco

I have emailed David Weiniger from MMB a few times, but he also appears to be out of the loop as it relates to updates for this phone. He has fowarded a couple of my emails to some folks at soundsolutionsam.com that are supposedely responsible for the support of the Qtek 8310 phones that he distributes. But, I assumed that he has not received any replies as I haven't heard anything.

Yes, it is a bit frustrating as folks with Qtek 8310 report that the new ROM provides new fixes/features and performance improvements. Again, I know that there are ways of hacking this phone, but after paying a premium I expect to have "some" level of "official" support. ->BASIC SUPPORT<- Just the ability to download an "official" ROM update that won't void my warranty. This ROM is already available to others Qtek 8310 users which bought their phones from other Qtek distributors.

Edit: Btw, there is a support forum at soundsolutionsam.com with a ROM Updates thread. The same question is being raised there, but there have not been any responses as of late.

I just put the imate rom on my phone. If phone breaks within the warranty and I am not covered because of what I did, oh well my loss. I upgrade phones about every 6 to 8 months anyway. Just gives me an excuse to upgrade sooner.

I finally got a hold of a ROM that installed flawlessly in the 8310 that I bought from Mad Monkey Boy. The ROM Ver. 2.5.312.1 with the new Comm Mgr and support for push email .The file is called 8310.zip (33 MB) and can be downloaded for 7 days starting 07/06/06. Unzip and run the installation program which will guide you with the installation process. Note that the install takes a long time Approx 8 min. The progress bar stays at 93% for about 3 minutes while connected via USB 2.0. Let the process in the host computer and the 8310 run its course. Be patient.

You can get the file here: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.ph...8E007754DF0A62

This file 8310.zip was placed there by the folks at Sound Solutions that apparently are the distributors of the Qtek 8310 that were sold by MMB.

I hope this helps a couple folks

FYI, I just checked and the link you posted is showing that the page cannot be found...it's only been 2 days.

(The one you posted on MoDaCo works though... )

I successfully used the "to_dan_eur_2090_253121_020900_ship.exe" file myself several weeks ago to upgrade my 8310 that I bought off Ebay from a Microsoft employee. I think that the ROM and operator versions were identical to the ones you had listed earlier for yours in another thread or on a different forum...

They now show up for me as ROM version 2.0.9.0 and operator version 2.5.312.1 Life is good...I'm glad you had success as well.

Anyone care to list some of the major improvements in the update or point me to a thread discussing them?
