How to tell if L6 is on Cingular 850mhz

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm trying to determine if my unlocked L6 is running on Cingular 850Mhz. I get conflicting info from things I've read so far here and elsewhere. I understand I can modify my L6 to work on 850mhz but I don't want to do that if it's already running fine on 850.

If I look here on my L6:

Phone Status/Other information/Technology it says "900/1800-1900"

This is what got me thinking it's not on 850mhz.

However when I search for available networks here in South Florida where we have 850mhz and 1900mhz on Cingular I see two Cingular networks shown in my L6's network list as well as t-mob which I know is 1900. I'm assuming one of the Cingular networks is the 850mhz 'Orange' Cingular network and the other is the 1900 Mhz 'Blue' old ATT network. I do have another quad band L7 and it shows the same numbers/networks.

Can anyone confirm from this info if I have 850mhz for sure? Thanks so much.

go to settings/network/network setup/ Band

if it shows 850/1900 & 900/1800 it is set up as a quad band and no mods are needed!

yep, just use the search feature on this forum. After editing and uploading seems 0025_0001 and 0032_0001, doing a restart, your network setup should have the 850/1900 option menu.

I noticed a much better signal quality with my unlocked L6 since I'm with Tmobile.

Thank you both for the confirmation. Since I have the 850-1900 option already I'm glad I don't have to change the seems. Which is good because I can't get my L6 to work with p2k manager anyway! :-)

weird.

for me it says:

Settings>>Phone Status>>Other information>>Technology>>"QUAD-BAND"

and

Settings>>Network>>Network Setup>>Band>>"AUTOMATIC"
but i have option::

850//1900
900//1800

am i fine as far as quad band goes?

yep, you're fine.

Is your L6 unbranded or unlocked?? I have mine set to read from the cell tower instead of the sim so that the signal quality gets a better signal

Are you from Los Angeles?
I also have t-mobile and was wondering what the name of the tower you connect to is... Mine is 310-170.

Yeah. I just checked "Available Networks," and chose the 310-170, and I've noticed that I have more bars, more often than I usually get at home.
Thanks for all the help, man.

I actually haven't chosen to register with any of those network codes...I let the phone do it automatically!

What if it only says "GSM 900/1800-1900" ?

How do I change it to 850? Do I need to buy a cable or can I just pay someone to do it for me?

Thanks!
