Why does ActiveSync start immediately on connect?

Hi. I just got an XV-6700 and love it. One thing bugs me though: every time I simply connect the USB cable to my PC, the 6700 starts trying an ActiveSync session automatically...frantically searching for my PC. The thing is, I have ActiveSync disabled with ActiveSync Toggle on my PC, only starting it up when I need it. Yeah, I usually go ahead and start it up (again, with ActiveSync Toggle), and EVENTUALLY the PC and PPC hook up and sync.
But sometimes I just want to connect the cable to charge the 6700...no ActiveSync!
Basically I'm asking: is there a way to set ActiveSync on the PocketPC to only try to ActiveSync manually (by starting the ActiveSync program)? And to not try to ActiveSync as soon as I connect the USB cable? Thanks.

Open ActiveSync
Look in connection settings and un-check "Open ActiveSync when my device connects"
Then Look in tools|options|Settings - Schedule and choose "manually" for peak and off peak times.
These changes will keep AS from popping up and of course not sync until you tell it to. Your PC will still recognize the PPC when you attach it but you should only see the tray icon go green and sound notification of the connection but nothing else.
