CompUSA - $29.99 for L7 + Moto H3 BT Headset

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Gigatron

Hmm...I dunno if anyone posted this yet.

Pricing is for a new line of service with a qualifying rate plan and a 2-year contract. And CUSA can do upgrades too!

Damn good deal, IMHO.

Posted by: maperson

Has anyone gone there to get one yet?

Posted by: justinb181

How much is the one year contract price?

Posted by: baxter316

I got mine and it is charging now. They tried to charge me for the a sim card that i did not need. I ended up getting the sim free. The only question I have is on the contract they stated an 18.00 activation fee. They said that I would not have to pay it but is this something that will show up on my monthly bill?

Posted by: maperson

My local store said they didn't have any in stock, but I could due the paperwork and pay now. I declined.

You must of upgraded, no? The $18 is normally charged if you upgrade. It's $36 for 'new' activations...
So, yes, you will see it on your bill, unless of course CompUSA have some 'special' deal with Cingular - highly unlikely...

Thanks for the tip this morning. Picked up two this morning and yes, they were $30 each + free headset with each. Signed up for a family plan. Interesting thing is they were sold out 1 hour after the store opened at 10am (I got there at 10:30). Mad rush of people around 11am -- a lot of people heard about the deal.

Posted by: EuroKRN

Oh, forgot to mention they also have Razr's at $30 each (but no headset).

Posted by: Gigatron

Heh, we sold out on all of them in like 30 minutes, lol. Everyone in my department (camera department too) went ahead and activated all the customers (the first huge batch of customers were all waiting in line to get a SLVR), lol.....and that was with a full staff in my department.

Nice part was that they were all new customers! A bunch of them ported over from T-Mobile and Verizon too. ^_^

Sucky part is now trying to get more in for the week. =(

I got the last headset and the second to last slvr. Lovin it.

Yep, posted and locked a week ago:

SLIVER $29.99 w/2 yr act or upgrade at CompUSA 5/7/06

And: Comp USA will have the SLVR for $29.99 (new activation or upgrade) on 5/7

I've been out of contract on my Cingular plan for a few years (in fact, they're taking away my long distance and voice mail at the end of the month to force me to sign on to a more expansive plan, I assume... jerks). Anyway, you said they do upgrades and that the $30 was for a new line of service. Do you happen to know what the price for the upgrade would be?

Posted by: Lopes

Does anyone know if the SLVR has speaker independent voice dailing, or the kind where you have to record the name? I can't find the answer anywhere.

That's what I like to hear!!

Posted by: pnyce973

damn in the compusa i work in .. we didnt get the phones in . however they gave us the SIM Cards..lol which was pretty stupid.

Posted by: fventura03

picked one up today, did the upgrade, so i have to pay a $18.00 upgrade fee. not many people knew about it, the employee said i was the 3rd person to get one today at like 1pm est.

FYI:

they also give you roadside assistance free for one month, you have to call the 2nd month for them to remove it.

Posted by: Spetsnaz Op

darn......it is a shame about cingular's pricing for family plans or else I'd jump

still it is tempting......but the Cingular pricing is really quite the ripoff considering how much some former ATT family plan users pay (and how much former ones used to pay)

What happens if you cancel) ???

Posted by: CA

Whats up with CompUSA, every time they have one of those to good to be true sales there is only a few per store and doesn't get restocked till the sale is over.

I saw an add for a BT headphone and got there before they opened only to find they were already sold out! Later the manager admitted they had 4 and going to another store(suggested to me by an agent)wouldn't do any good.

I guess it's a good way to fill the store with customers having money in hand!

Posted by: spicaly

how would this work if im still on the blue side of the fence?

Posted by: spicaly

well i went ahead and jumped on this deal as well. since i was porting over from blue there wasnt an activation or upgrade fee

Unless you are a new activation at Best Buy. There was no activation fee, at least at the time of activation. I don't know if they have hidden it in the first month's bill as it was a family member.

From what I saw, the activation fee for new customers is listed on the contract and I was told I would see the fee on my first bill. But who knows? I know that at the store I went to there was little training given to the poor folks having to deal with the thundering masses on Sunday. They did the best they could answering questions but for all I know the workers were making it up as they went along.

As for me I am expecting to see the activation fee on the first bill. But I won't be sad if for whatever reason it doesn't appear.

Went my Comp USA in Memphis. Had 12 phones but no Sim cards. Guy Told me call on wednesday to see if they had the sims. I am going to add a line to my family plan to get the subsidy, then chunk it on eBay. Get the phone I really want.

Posted by: 2legit2quit

Got one. My brother and I each bought one last sunday - there was one left after us. The guy said he had already sold 5 that day....what a bargain - the L7 is a lot better than the L6 - a huge upgrade. The screen, card slot, itunes, etc...I would have gladly paid $30 just for the H3....

Posted by: Waddy

I can't believe this was for real.

All stores in Houston are sold out. This sucks.

Posted by: Gizmotoy

I picked one up yesterday. The guys in the store didn't really know what was going on, and I walked out with a malfunctioning phone. We got it sorted out, though. For some reason my old SIM wouldn't work, so we just used a new one. Now when I call people it says the caller ID is blocked, so I'll have to call them to see what that's about.

Other than that, great deal! Signed another 2 years at my current $29.99, which I didn't figure they'd let me do. Then got the SLVR and H3 for $30... pretty exciting. Good tip guys, I would have missed it otherwise. Didn't check the ads this week.

He means you would be charged for the full retail price of the phone which is separate from the ETF of $175.00 if you cancel the service contract.

I've never heard of having to pay the cost of the phone back on top of the ETF, is that new

If you go through an Agent for service, they tend to have a separate contract for you to sign saying you will not cancel or change your rate plan or else your will be charged a fee from them. If you return everything before the 30 day trial period (to include the phone) they only charge you for the service used. If you plan on keeping the phone, you would be charged the full unactivated retail price of the phone.

dang it. so i may be too late already. im gonna try tomorrow to see if they got any left. ok so would it be that they are done selling them or the prices would just change?

i dunno. i have a deal for a $100 slvr which is, as far as i know, better than cingulars new costumer offer but that surely doesnt compare to compusa.

I'd jump on that $100 deal if you find that CompUSA's deal is done.

They will still be selling the phone, but the special $29.99 is probably done by now, so you'll have to go get *** raped for $199 w/ 2 year contract like everybody else.

Posted by: JrDr1218

i was just at my local compusa store, not for the phone but i happened to go check it out bc i really want one, thiniking of switching to cingular and they had it for 99 bux for a 2yr and the little print said 174 for 1yr... so maybe it does vary by location
