I have a v330 and every time i go to the Available Networks it says "T-mobile" and "Cingular" When I try to regester with cingular, it says "Regestered, Tmobile" is there any way that I can change this so it can regester with cingular. I have free roaming, and i'v been covored by cingular (when i went to WI with my same t-mo phone i regestered cingular the whole time) but now i can't get it. Is it because of where I am? all v330s have quad band too right?? ya so i'm just trying to see if i can seem edit so i can regester w/ cingular when i want to. Thanks

the ability to select a roaming partner has nothing to do with your handset or any seem edits you do to it, its contrllled by the carrier and their list of allowable networks according to your IMSI/Account.

yep. If it's an unlocked or unbranded phone, you can choose to have your phone read from the tower instead of your sim. I also have Tmoble and a v330, but like you, it's locked to the Tmobile network and it's probably reading from the sim, so at home I only get about 2 or 3 bars. With my unbranded L6, I get usually 4 or 5 bars because it's set to read off the tower.

THe op's question is not regarding the alpha tag, its about selecting an available cellular network, but it bounces back to the other network, this is how motorola phones handle when you have no access to a network, try it with a non-moto and you will get some kind of message like "no access" or "not allowed"

I have the same problem with my T-Mobile PEBL. Does this mean that if I get the SIM card unlocked, I will be able to register onto Cingular towers? I read in another forum that you can do a seem edit or something to turn on the option that allows you to register onto other towers.

If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it. I get terrible reception for T-Mobile in my new home.

the thing that controlls which carriers towers you can select or not is your roaming agreements speficic to your carrier/plan. unlocking your sim card will have no impact on what providers you have access to "roam" onto... If you change your sim card, you are changing your provider, and because you are no longer with provider A, Provider B`s roaming agreements may be different. Fido monthly subscribers HAVE accses to roam in the united states (t-mobile, cingular) but Fido Prepaid dont, so its not just what your provider allows, its also depends on your price plan pertaining to your account.

So getting my SIM unlocked has nothing to do with allowing my T-Mobile phone to use other networks (Cingular, etc)? If that is so, does SIM unlocking just allow me to use another companies SIM card?

If you get your phone unlocked, and you had t-mobile before, you will be able to put a cingular sim card in, thats all.

so if i get my phone unbranded or unlocked or whatever, then i might get better reception? you sure about that?

i don't know what unbranded means....but if you unlock your phone, that doesn't work. Unlocking is only to put a different sim card in..
Some one should post what unbranded means

unbranding means that your phone doesn't have a particular carrier's software. Cingular & Tmobile have their own icons that usually come with the phone you buy like AIM or PTT features
