I just bought a used 8700c from someone on ebay and I'm trying to figure something out. apparently the person who I bought the phone from didnt take out their email stuff so I continue to recieve their email which I obviously dont wish to recieve anymore.

so can someone give me a clue as to how I would delete that person's email settings on my phone so I can start using my own email address?

also, I tried to set up my own BB email on Cingular's BB setup page, but of course its telling me that my 8700c is already being used. so is there anyway around this or what?

You need to go to that person and have the turn it off. You might be able to get Cingular to do it but it is more easy to have the customer turn it off.

You can't, you need the previous user needs to contact Cingular to have their BlackBerry Data Plan cancelled and the BIS account deleted on the carrier side.

okay, so once I get the user to cancel their BB acount, then what? will I be able to go to Cingular's site and start a new BB email account for me?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Wouldn't restoring the BB to factory settings by resetting it solve this as well ? As I recall you can do a reset from the security menu -which the seller shouldve done- I have done it before giving device to someone....you should then be able to set up your data services...hope this helps

Yes you will be able to set it up. I assume you have already called CS to add the BB U/L data plan right?

If not, the you need to do that. Also a handheld wipe wouldn't hurt. It just resets the settings back to factory default.

Unfortunately that has nothing to do with the provider. The previous user does have to call to release it, it is also possible to have the provider itself do it but they hesitate in case the phone is stolen or misplaced, they rather hear from the rightful owner.

The security wipe you speak of only clears the user data from the device at the present moment but will not prevent further data from being send to it if the email has not been turned off.
