Ramble vs Other AIM Clients

I am thinking about downloading Ramble for AIM on my Blackberry, however, saw that since it uses GPRS it uses a lot more battery life, I love how long my battery currently lasts (about 7 days) and don't want to cut much into it. How much battery life would be saved using a SMS solution? Also, coming from a Sidekick II, which has a great AIM client, which solution would closely match that?

Thanks

BTW, using a 8700g with T-Mobile

Probably none, its free so you get what you pay for... As a whole any of the IM offerings for the BB will kill battery life. As for preference its a wash, I'm happy with IM+ others will argue. Try a search and you'll a tone of info in other IM clients for the BB.

I use Ramble and it works fine for me, I, however, do not sign on and stay on, as a rule I am in the office or at my home in front of my computer, and I run Trillian (AIM client) and have immediate access to anyone looking for me. I have it for when I am on the road and only when I need to reach someone rather than just have it running in the background eating battery life while I wait to see if any of my buddies wants to chat. But it is a matter of taste as to what client you use, I also used aim via google talk after adding the jabber client and it worked just as well for me and that is free as well.

YIM doesn't 'eat' my battery. After leaving it on all day..moderate IM use, some emails, some calls, I'm at 70% on my 7290.

I also use IM+ and it's not a 'drainer' either.

Either way..results are for me. YMMV

Luck.
