hi everyone,
my dad got a new blackberry, and he needs to update his contacts from is old BB(7100 rogers) is there a freeware program that can do this or can the blackberry already do this and i am missing somthing. There are too many contacts to save to the sim.

thanks in advance.

As an addition to this, I'm wondering how to transfer all my contacts from my phone (which has bluetooth & infrared) to my 7230, without resorting to swapping SIMs.

I hope I get this right...this should be straightforward as I've done something similar when I went from my 7750 to my 7250.

1. Using the Blackberry Desktop Manager, connect your old Blackberry and open the Backup and Restore app. Use the backup function to backup your old BB to a file on your hard drive (remember where you placed it for step 2 below)
2. Connect the new BB and with BB Desktop Manager, use the Backup and Restore App to restore the data from the file that you backed up from step 1 above.

That will restore your contacts, emails, apps, etc.

Hope this helps.

BTW, if it's strictly for contacts that you are concerned with and not emails, BB apps, etc., then you can also follow the steps in the post below.

You didn't say which phone you are coming from (if it were another BB, you could follow my steps in my previous post above).

I've found that the easiest way to transfer contacts between phones is to sync your "old" phone with Outlook on your desktop. Now that the contacts are in Outlook, use Blackberry Desktop Manager to sync your contacts with Outlook to get them into your BB.

It will overwrite your contacts on your new BB. The best approach would be to do the Outlook method as mentioned in my previous post.
