Since we already have our own wallpaper thread, why not also have our very own ringtone thread?

Since I am using a card reader and i do not have a cable or infrared, here are the steps to transfer the ringtone to the GX32 (not sure if they are the same for the GX30):

- remove the mmc/sd memory card from the phone (switch off the phone first!) and insert it to the usb card reader.
- on the pc using windows explorer, copy the mmf file/s to the memory card.
- reinsert ehe memory card to the phone and turn on power.
- on the phone, press the center button then select Gallery.
- select Sound Gallery.
- select Memory Card.
- highlight the ringtone you want then select Options.
- select Copy to Handset or Move to Handset.

To select the ringtone:
- on the phone, press the center button then select Profiles.
- highlight Normal or Activity and press Options -> Personalize.
- select Assign Melody.
- select Sound Gallery.
- highlight the ringtone you want, then press Options -> Assign.

There's also a nice thread (sticky) by pipin on the subject matter for the GX30.

I can also try to entertain requests for specific tunes.

To start with, here are two nice themes from the horror movies Phantasm and The Exorcist (need Winzip to open the files):

Posted by: longj49

although you can easily play midi ringtones on the phone, i prefer converting them to mmf format because the file size is smaller (without deterioration to sound quality). this becomes important considering that the maximum ringtone size is 50K.

for those who would like to create mmf ringtones, here's a nifty little freeware called PsmPlayer. you can get it from:

i think the latest version is v5.0/

Strange, but when I was using Samsung phones and was a regular at the Samsung Forum, there were many who posted ringtones. Does this mean Sharp phone users have less interest in this? If so, maybe we'll just let this thread die off.

Posted by: longj49

more than 1600 views at this point and counting - wow! i guess some people do like the ringtones i have posted here, so i think i'm gonna keep 'em coming!

here are four VERY NICE chime ringtones in one zip file. these are actually japanese train station chimes.

everyone will definitely like these - so come and grab 'em!

BTW - requests are most welcome!

Does anyone have the tombraide theme in mmf format from the original tomb raider game. It is slow and really pretty.

Thanks in advance to anyne who may be able to help!

Cheers..

Posted by: ManBeastLove

I think the best message alert you can have is a loud, wet fart sound.
The type that you can never let slip in a crowded lift or on a bus.

Please, if anyone has some good fart sounds please upload them!

Thanks

Posted by: longj49

hi, Katie_Kat.

here's your tombraider theme. hope it's the right one.

Request:
a few songs with voice

Posted by: longj49

been trying to find midis with vocals, but they seem to be either very rare or not possible to make. have tried to convert mp3s and wavs but the resulting midis were horrific and sounded more like noise from outer space.

sorry, bro, this is beyond me.

Posted by: ongthosan

Ya, I tried that too, but it's not impossible. I did it before with Cooledit... but the quality is kinna poor.
How about mmf format? do you have any with voice?

Posted by: longj49

i have posted a couple of mmf tones with voice (one page back).

Posted by: matthewt24

question....I am new to cell phone tech (just got rid of my four year old Qualcomm, and picked up a TM150)....will these ringers work on my TM150, or are they only for the GX-xx?

and if so, here are a couple requests....

- Beastie Boys
- Radiohead

Thanks!

Posted by: PDXMatt

They will work well on your TM150. They do on mine.

Posted by: longj49

Just want to say goodbye to this forum because I have just traded in my Sharp GX32 for the Sony Ericsson S700i.

Hope others can contribute to this thread to keep it active.

How can i upload some ringtones for TM 100 appreciate in advance

Posted by: zardsc

Hi, I have the Sharp GX32, but I can't save mmf ringtones in my memory card to the GX32. And I checked that my mmf ringtones are less than 50k, when I go to assign melody, there are two options: one is PRESET MELODIES, and the other one is SOUND GALLERY. But I can only selet PRESET MELODIES, does anyone know why. Or is there any other way to save ringtones to the GX32. Thank You.

Please help...I have just joined this Forum ... and I came across your information above ...two years later !? But better late than never.
Does your instructions apply to Sharp TM150, which I have just bought? Becasue I have tried them but nothing happens..I copied more than 20 ring tones in SMAF and MP3 formats from the PC into the memory card (SD) using USB card reader ...checked and the tones were copied...but when card was inserted in the camera and I clicked on "My songs" it showed the list to be empty..
What is wrong?

Can anyone help? How do I transfer ring tones downloaded on SD card from the PC to the phone handset? I have used every format for the tones...but could not find them on the SD card when checking the card in the handset ..However all the files are shown when the SD is opened in the PC!

I have downloaded more than 25 ring tones from various sources including this forum, but all for naught.

Hey does anyone have the soccer anthem... "OLE, OLE, OLE..."

Thanks!

Request: any Aphex Twin tunes or similar midi or mmf

When I follow the steps outlined ..all I get is that "My sounds" is empty.
Furthermore the "Switch to card data" is not even highlighted to click on.

anyone has vivaldi the four seasons..... i love those esp the chorus of the winter season.

thanks

Posted by: SoccerRef

For you Star Wars Fans...

Posted by: SoccerRef

OK Soccer Fans... Nobody seemed to have it, so I searched and found an MP3. Then following some instructions found on this site and a few free program downloads, I was able to convert it to a wav file, edit it, convert it to a SMAF file, and now I have my OLE, OLE, OLE ringer! Combine that with a thumbnail of a flaming soccer ball and I know when any of my footy friends are calling before I even look at my phone!

Who knew you could have so much fun with a phone!

Unfortunately I can not upload the file, because even zipped it is too big!! SO, if you are interested, send me an email at the following email address...

soccer4kids2222@yahoo.com (address slightly changed to prevent SPAM... Change the 2222 to 2000 when you email. I check this account about once a week, so be patient if I don't get right back to you...)

I will reply with the file attached. It loops almost perfectly, not quite, but almost...
