In my case, it's excellent and far better than my 3120's. The sound quality is a lot better too.

It's somewhat less than the 6230, but still better than most other phones I've used. As with all candybar phones, be mindful of not blocking the antenna with your hand or your shoulder and all will be well.

thinking about getting this unlock. I have the audiovox smt5600 now, wondering how much of an improvement I would get.

I really didn't have any problem with the phone, maybe the reception is not that great but it's been good. It is my first smartphone.
