that's true. Knowledge does - some have it, some don't

Wirelessly posted (Nokia 6682: Nokia6682/2.0 (3.01.1) SymbianOS/8.0 Series60/2.6 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

And some like to boast an awful lot. Maybe some humility to go with all that supposed knowledge.

Wow!!!! lol

I agree with an earlier post about rather having an un-branded version of this phone. Cingular jacks up these phones with their branding all over it.

Maybe Nokia's website will have an unbranded U.S. 3G version since the Cingular version was "supposedly" ditched.

the N80 you saw on FCC's site was DOA for Cingular as it lackd 850 Mhz for UMTS/3G (it only had 1900).

how did this thread become a sticky???

Posted by: JasonT1273

This is right in line with what I've gotten down the pipe from my friendly neighborhood Nokia rep. N80 didn't have UMTS on 850MHz so Cingular didn't want it. Sent it back to Nokia asking them to somehow produce a version with 850 UMTS. That's the last I've gotten about it. As for Cingular-branded vs. Unbranded... pros and cons to both. I have an unbranded 6682 and most of the "Cool Tools" available through MediaNet won't run on an Unbranded handset (i.e. MobiRadio, MobiTV, MusicID) They all produce an error upon attempting installation because, according to folks at MobiTV, the unbranded handsets lack the license certificates (or something to that effect) that the Cingular branded handset come loaded with and Cingular wanted it that way. Granted not everyone gives a crap about these apps but they are something a Cingular-branded one CAN run. Still love the phone though.
