I want to get a non-smartphone that has a QWERTY keyboard. I will be using it mainly for calls, SMS text messaging and AIM Instant Messenger. Bluetooth is also a must. So I kind of narrowed it down to the Motorola A630 and Samsing D307. You can so SEEM editing to enable the 850 band and thus enabling quad-band on the A630. However, if any of you have owned or used these phones, how is the keyboard on it? The buttons on the D307 look a lot of stiffer , which for me is kind of a negative. Also, is the AIM on the D307 text based? I would prefer it to be text based as it is on the A630. So which phone would you guys recommend to go with? Thanks!

I used the A630 for about 5 months. I found the keyboard a little cramped. It definitely slowed down my typing. I do have fat fingers though. If you have them too, you may end up typing slower than before.

I never used the D307 so I can't tell you anything about that.

Wirelessly posted (whatever the next lines says: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; PPC; 240x240) Opera 8.50 [en])

ive used both if yo can live without the crappy camera i would go with the d307. i like how the keypad is layed out and liked the double hinge. plus the screen is twice the size of the a630 and i think it has a better ui

How's that d307's double-jointed hinge in terms of durability? Still snappy/tight not wobbly after repeated use?

I havent owned either, but my cousin had an a630, and he said it was a godsend. As for the d307, I have heard the UI is not user friendly and the button layout is hard to adjust to. I would go with the a630 because it has more features, and it is smaller. Maybe not thinner but the d307 is about the ugliest phone on the market right now, and it looks like a normal phone, but the a630 will turn heads. I would go with the a630.

Question? (Sorry to HiJack your thread) If I get a D307 unlocked on TMo, what features am I going to loose? Internet? AIM?

I looking at getting another temporary phone WITH a QWERTY board, so the A630, D307, and the SK65 are my top 3.

Thanks in advance,
David
