Hello. Longtime Verizon customer thinking of switching to Cingular, as Verizon has very poor service in the area I just moved to.

My needs are relatively simple..a phone with good RF, relatively small size (pocketable), Bluetooth, and good sound quality on both ends. I don't really care about camera or music capabilities.

So is there anything better than the W600i for my needs? Also, I was thinking about getting the phone from somewhere like Letstalk.com or Wirefly.com because it's free on those sites vs. $99 on cingular.com. Any disadvantage to ordering from there?

6682, i had a s710 and a w600. 6682 is betta then both imo.

EDIT: didnt see that u didnt wnat a camera n music.
razr is good then, or nokia 2101

I definitely do not want a Razr. They feel cheap and the volume doesn't seem to get nearly loud enough the couple of times I've used a friend's.

The 6682 seems kind of large for a pocket, no? I'm also leary of a phone w/o a flip...I hate having to remember to lock the keypad everytime I put the phone in my pocket.

No it's not too large, and on the Nokia 6682 there is a software called auto lock, that can lock the keypad for you after a set time limit...

If you don't want to have lock a phone every time you put it in your pocket, then the w600 is not the phone for you. It has an autolock and a slide lock button, but you have to remember to lock it ... I know I do before I holster it. Otherwise you'll end up starting the music player or the Internet or calling someone on accident.

Have you looked at the Sony Ericsson z520? The other option would be the Nokia 6101.

How long till your contract is up with Verizon? If you've got some time, you may want to see what people think of the 6131 when it comes out (check out the thread, also in this forum, about it).

The w600i is a great phone and sounds like it fits your needs. As a previous poster said it does have an autolock function so putting it in your pocket is not a problem. It is small, has much better external speakers than any Moto, better camera, and better UI. It's personal preference of course.

I have the 6682 had the w600, and will be returning my 6682 for the w600 again,the w600 aside from expandable memory is just better overall in my opinion, if u dont mind expandable memory, my 6682 is good but short battery life, reboots alot,gaming is slow and stagnant, music player is slow and very low next to the w600, just think the w600 does everything better as a phone.

I beg to differ.....

I had 5 razrs, and 2 w600i's. They all messed up on me. I got a 6682 and have had it for a while. Hasn't messed up on me once. Sure the UI might be slow, but it is faster than the RAZR. The 6682 has more memory than the w600i, not built in but you can get an expansion card of up to 1 gig. It is an awesome phone, and the size does not bother me. And this is going from a RAZR.

No it isn't. I had 2 w600i's. It had software issues that caused it to freeze and lock up, my battery and signal bars were incorrect, and the whole WSOD thing. Both did the same thing. My 6682 hasn't.

The battery life on the w600i is horrible compared to the 6682. I used both of the phones the same, constantly using the music player and text messeges and camera, and my nokia lasted me around 3-5 days, while the w600i lasted me about 2 days Max. The signal on the nokia is better than the SE. But I have one question, it says you have had both models as well as I, but it says you returned the w600i. Can you please tell me if this is such a great phone why you returned it? Not being the police or anythnig but just curious.

The reason i returned the w600 is because of lack of memory, im accustomed to a s60 or windows device, i like all the extras i can do, ive had the 2125, mpx220, smt5600, nokia 6620, nokia is the best come signal wise, i cant agree with u on the battery life no way it dont compare,i overall like the 6682, i know it sounded like i was bashing it, im not its a great phone, i guess we have to go back to the original thread and for his needs, and money that is saved i would say get the w600 unless he needs a phone with expandable memory and 3rd party apps, i would say the w600 is the best for cingular, remember i said phone.

I have never had the 6682 but do own the 6620. I love the phone except for the slow ui. I have had a w600i for a couple months and have had no problems with WSOD. It's like cars, you can get a lemon once in a while but it does not mean all of them are garbage. The w600i is an excellent phone. I am hoping Cingular comes out with the w810i in July when I am up for an upgrage.
