Cheers-
I just upgraded from a W800i to a W810i and having tons of dropped calls-
It will drop them with full bars, it will almost drop every call during the conversation. I'm in California using Cingular- The W800i and k750i never dropped calls from my office in the same location.. It started off not dropping tooo many but it has become steadily worse.. Maybe the phone?? Any Ideas?

Thanks-

Coleman.

Try switching from W810 to K750/W800 and Check (Try in the same spot)

true! there's a 35 page thread about this. From about page 29 or 30, you can find details about flashing your phone and fixing the drop calls problem.

Does anyone know whats the latest update for this phone because I see that when you flash the phone you then will be running R4CEO12? Mine has that as the latest but I still get a lot of dropped calls so is there another update to flash phone to? Thanks

Sorry about this post.. After poking around I had come across the 42 page thread.. I'm deep in the bowels of trying to get virtual PC to work on my mac to flash the phone.. Jesus.. Windows is the most archaic thing.. It depressingly complex, unintuative and lame.. I'm not even sure I'll be able to flash the W810 I'm having trouble with the launcher.. (what is a launcher anyways?) Why would you need a program to launch a program.. just another graceless PC complexity..

Are you trying to use Davinci or SEUS? Tell me how that works out because when the time comes, I may be a a bit afraid to trust my phone to update properly from Virtual PC.

You know I live in Virginia Beach, VA and I also have the W810i w/ Cingular. I experience dropped calls all the time also. I never had that problem w/ my previous phone (MOTOROLA RAZR V3). I have called Sony about the problem, and Cingular. Cingular says, "Well we don't sell that phone so we don't have any info on it or don't know how to troubleshoot it and can't run over-the-air diagnostics because it's not in our inventory." The one guy I spoke with from Cingular said that my IMEI # in their system was still from my old phone the RAZR so he said that that might be causing problems so he entered my new IMEI # from the W810i and their system accepted it. Then we deleted out all the profiles (data, GPRS, GSM, SMS, MMS, etc) and complete re-entered all the data, made sure it was up-to-date. After all this still have dropped calls.

So Then I called Sony and they said that the only thing they could do was take a look at it and maybe do a warrenty replacement or repair. I told them that the phone works fine and that I experience dropped calls w/ full service at random times but all most every call. I asked if they had a firmware update aside from the normal automatic over-the-air updates on the phone. He said that I would need a USB cable from Sony to do that and that I'd have to get the software to do it. I asked him if there was a way to see what firmware version I had and compare it to the latest version. He was reluctant to give me that latest version but anyway I'm gona get the USB cable and upgrade the firmware. I baught my phone from Europe and it might have a slightly differant firmware for the US. Other than that I have no more info as of yet.

Yeah, well, the Virtual PC with Davinchi does not work- I had my W810 flashed when I was in HK on business.. works like a charm.. I also have an unused Davinchi Code if anybody wants to buy it from me..

I just received my W810i through Rogers up here in Ontario and it works perfect. Never had a dropped call. I don't know about the version you have, but up here it's a quad-band specializing on the GSM850 band. My Samsung D500 that I bought in Thailand last year is only a tri-band - it's missing the GSM850 band, and let me tell ya, you can tell. I could only tap into the GSM1900 band with it and the reception would go down the toilet many times between towns. Of course in a city where they have many towers, reception wasn't a problem.
