Well after 3 hours of fighting with this thing last night, i think its finally updated. I have (had) a Cingular Treo 650. I bought an unlock code off 650unlock.com and the first headache came with that. I got the license easily but the program that you use to see if the phone is "unlockable" or not would not discover my phone. Windows XP automatically installs the drivers for the USB WINCE connection that is used to do the discovery but mime would not find the phone. After 4 or 5 tries i looked in the process list and there was a process called "wcecomms.exe" or something like that. After terminating that process, the computer discovered my phone and gave me the unlock code. Once it was unlocked the next headcahe came with the romtool program (obtained from grack.com) It finally, after several tries, discovered my phone and allowed me to go in and change the tokens from 1.17 to 1.20 and CNG to ENA. Once that was completed, i was able to download the 1.20ENA file off the Palm Website and went through the procedure of installing it on my phone. Its really cool how it works and doesn't require an SD card to complete. The only issue i had with that was when it got to the "modifying ROM" section it kept stalling. I tried it three times and it stalled everytime. The software came with a great troubleshooting guide and after doing the steps i finally just ended it there. It never did complete the ROM update, at least i dont think it did. But the phone is showing to have the 1.20ENA software now and firmware version 1.71. All the crappy Cingular programs are still on there. How do i get rid of those?
Was this a success? Everything seems to be working normally and a little faster i might add.

It seems like it was successful, but I don't know for sure... I don't think you were supposed to change the Firmware Token Value, just change the CNG to ENA... It might have thought you already had the newer firmware so it didn't update (talking outta my ***, don't really know...lol). To get rid of all the Cingular programs and programs you don't like, use the RomTool and download your Rom to your desktop, then go into the folder and delete the unneccessary files. Go to Treocentral.com and search the Forums for Custom rom-the easy way. There's a link to a How-To guide done by JamesGangut, that details the process, and gives links to the lists of files to delete... Hope this helps...

Thanks a bunch. Yes it helps alot. I know there is a way to go into the phones memory and delete programs as well but i can not remember how to do it or where the target is to the memory key. Anyone know how to get this?

It all depends on what files you want to delete... If you want to delete files from the ROM, then you have to use the Grack RomTool. It's actually pretty easy once you read the instructions. I've done it a few times now and have taken out Versamail, RealPlayer, Tips/Tutorials, all the different languages and have added Agendus 10.04, Uninstall Manager and ZLauncher and my phone is working better than it ever has (knock on wood...).
If you just want to delete files in RAM then you can download a free program called Filez (which I've also added to ROM). Let me know what you want to do and I'll try to help as best I can...

Thanks a bunch. I may try that when i get home from work tonight. I use Versamail, but i would like to 86 the Xpressmail, GetGood, and the Tips/ Tutorials. I would like to add the Uninstall manager. What is Agendus and the Zlauncher for?

You should check out the links in my last post in this thread.

There are links to all of the files you'll need. You should read first then think about doing it. It's a little intense but if you have the time, I think it's really worth it... I also deleted those programs (forgot about them). You get a lot of memory back and that helps in the long run.
Agendus-Contact/Datebook replacement program. Makes it look nicer and adds quite a few features. www.iambic.com
ZLauncher-Launcher program. Allows me to do quite a bit, run programs from my SD card, themes, backgrounds, etc... www.zztechs.com
You should check em out if you have a chance, you can do trials and see if you like them...

Thank you. I will look into that. You don't know if there are any updates that can be installed to make the bluetooth louder or better huh?

Ok, this is 1 of the places where it's really weird... Some people have success with the older BT files and some have success with the newer files... In 1 of the threads from JamesGangut, he lists the files that can be deleted (for progs like Versamail, Realplayer), and he also lists the files that need to be deleted/re-added to use the BT files from the 1.13 update. You can try that out if you want, I had great success with the files from the newest update (knock on wood...). Also, you can try a program called BTMute, from the same developers of Volumecare. This program simulates the Mute being hit, which for some reason increases the volume for BT headsets. This program is kinda hit or miss though, some people have reported it working great, some don't find any improvement... I guess try out the BTMute program since it's a little easier then try using the 1.13 BT files in your ROM... Hope this helps...
