Problem with the nokia 6101

I recently bought the 6101 unlocked from ebay and im trying to use it on cingular but it wont let me recieve multimedia texts and it wont let me download anything from cingular like wallpapers and ringtones is it just not fully unlocked or what please help.

Send the standard settings to your phone for Cingular.

one issue you are going to have is that that phone is tri band-1900 US 900/1800 Euro. It lacks 850 US which is Cingulars primary band. You should have bought the 6102.

As far as your settings for multimedia and stuff, follow the link provided. Follow the instructions and if you do it right it will send you a message with the settings. Once you open the message it will auto install for you.

According to Nokia's site, the 6101 is also 850/1800/1900.

The Cingular forum FAQ has a link to Cingular's WAP/MMS settings as well.

This is correct. I think pikapp looked at the wrong specs.

Cingular carries the 6102 (which I work for Cingular) 850 1900 1800 Tmo carries 6101 1900 900 1800.

Wrong. If you look at the specs of this phone on Nokia's site you'll see that the USA version of the 6101 is Tri-band GSM 850/1800/1900 MHz.

I have set my phone to use AWS blue towers several times. They are 850mhz in this area.
