Hooray, LG CU320 is back to my zip code on letstalk.com!
My current contract with T expires yesterday and I am ready to switch to cingular. We were originally planning on getting a nokia 6682 and a LG CU320, but my question is: shall I wait a few more months for more Nokia phones, specifically N80 or 6282? Are they really cancelled? Is it worth the wait, or shall we just settle on 6682 and cu320?

Also, is there anyway you can get a discounted phone with 1-yr contract on either of the dealer sites like wirefly, letstalk?

Also , my current phone is motorola A630. It is in quite good condition and unlocked. If you want this phone, please PM me.

Please stay away from LG. If you want a 3G phone than wait for the Nokia 6282.

I would wait for the LG CU500, unless you really like the slider CU320. I think the 500 is much better ergonomically and everything else too I guess. Don't wait for the 6282, it may never come, and even if it does I still wouldn't wait for it. Who ever said the N80 was coming to Cingular? There is no indication that it is, so that could be a LONG wait.

I'm very happy with my CU320, it is a pretty decent phone.
The only down side is that it still can't sync with your PC.
I got around this by using bluetooth to transfer vCards for all of my contacts to and from the phone.

I'm a Nokia fan but I bought a CU320. It's a good phone, and I hate LG so it takes a lot for me to actually like it. I tether with it, SMS, MMS, Media Net, Opera, and CV. Works great. Here's the down sides I've found:

Can't make closing the slider NOT end a call.
T9 dictionary additions always start capitalized. (you have to force it to non-cap)
The camera is unusable at night and the flash is only good as a flashlight.
When using the phone on GSM/EDGE, the phone will not take calls if you are using data. It will just send them to VM.
Headphone port appears to be mono only.

my thoughts...

Just an FWI, that is how GSM works, and that is how any phone on the GSM network should work, even if it is a UMTS phone. Well if the data session is active anyway. If the session is idle the call should go through.

Actually the port supports stereo but not with regular stereo headphones. You will need one of those stereo headphone with mic -- the one that has a 4 pole plug.

Doesn't work that way with my Sony Ericsson P910a, my phone will indicate I have an incoming call if I am on a media.net session and can simply accept the call. I think it is a function of the phone, not the carrier or technology in general.

Yea I know it's only capable of one or the other. My 6230 would end your media net session and put the call though. This phone just routs to VM and you don't even know your taking a call. If it were on 3G that wouldn't be the case right?

Oh, I was wondering what the deal was. I find that the speaker phone is loud, but since the speaker is on the back of the phone, it's hard to hear in loud places. I can't hear CV well enough in airports and that's why I was looking for the wired headset. I us BT for calls.

It is the way 3G is supposed to work. I don't know that I have ever tested it myself though. Shouldn't be an issue in any case.
