I was told by the store that the 8125 will not work with a mac. Last night I was told by a friend that it will. Can anyone clarify?

Thanks,
john

It can, and does. I use it personally.

http://markspace.com/testing/

It requires that you buy the 2.0 version, and the 2.5 version is in testing... so it isn't perfect. But you can sync with it via Bluetooth, and USB (if you have the right software on the 8125).

Join their mailing list and peruse their archives. It does work.

i could never get mine to work, but now that Apple released a new 13" macbook it might not be an issue for me.

heh. What difference does that make? You'll have Windows? You need to check out Parallels Workstation if you haven't. http://parallels.com

yeah i could use bootcamp to dual boot, unfortunately I have certain apps for work/school that only have Windows versions so as much as I was sad to see Apple go to Intel, it is probably for the best.

Do you have parallells? what do you think? I'll probably be buying the new mac in a few months when they get some of the bugs worked out.

My wife has the MacBook Pro 2.0ghz w/ 2GB RAM. It is an amazing machine... I installed Windows XP SP2 on it with Bootcamp, and have it running in Parallels Workstation too. Flat out amazing. You're not going to play 3d games with virtualization, but for 90% of what you'll need it for it is more than adequate... quite pleasing actually. It will power the SlingPlayer.

You should check out a program called "file juicer" you can DL the .exe file and open them up to get teh .cab file then BT them to you're phone.. it works great. i am having issues with the BT connection with the mark space missing link. I just deiced to not mess with it, and input it all myself...
ps i work at the apple store and we sold about 30 macbooks...

If you have the latest version (2.5a10) then it should be a pretty brain dead process. If you'd like, I'll detail the steps to make it work.

Thanks for File Juicer... I'm giving it a shot now.... and I'm stoked re the MacBook numbers... that and the relentless advertising Apple is doing will lead to good things.

I kinda gave up on missing link, i realized that i wouldnt use it much, i can do most with the BTing what I need. yes finally advertizing..

I set up a free exchange account on mail2web.com to sync my contacts, notes, tasks, and calendar. I also use it to email myself cab files.

I just started using http://1800message.com/, download it onto your phone, and sync your contacts, txt messages, call history, pics, and notes to their servers.

So far I've been cool... when I had my Treo I had to perform numerous hard resets and so syncing everything to my mac was essential, not the case with my 8125.

Hey guys, tried reading through this thread and I didn't get much out of it. I'm going to be picking up another Mac later this summer (prolly a Mac Book Pro in Aug), and I was really interested in gettinga 8125. Could someone explain to me how I could get the two to work together and if it would simple or would it be a hassle? (I'm looking to sync events, to-do lists, numbers, etc)

To get your 8125 to sync with a mac (ie:contacts, pics, etc) you must use a third party link. This has been discussed above. Also, the 8125 will work as a bluetooth modem for your mac (assuming you have bluetooth) as long as you are running OS 10.4. Search the forums, there are a few other threads about this out already

So am I SOL if I try to use my 8125 as a modem with my 6 year old iMac running OS 9? I figure I am, but it would still be nice to be able to in case I need to.
