this is from a 904SH seller. it's in chinese. and he is saying that 904SH will be able to unlock in late May to (and?!?!) mid June.....

Yeah I don't quite understand how you can put an ETA on something like this. They'll just keep trying, and when they manage it, they'll post that it's available. It's not like they're developing a game or something and can actually predict when it will be ready.

it may not be a game or movie... but it is something that people would be willing to pay $$$ for. maybe they waiting for the right offer?

Man have you ever been to SIN DAT!!! a popular cellphone headquater in hong kong. People there always say they can unlock any new phones in two weeks, and trust me that two weeks is so long...... Like the 903, they been saying about the unlock since the end of july..... and they didn't really get one until the end of september......

It looks pretty legit, but it could just be a background set just right (or a good photoshop). Can anyone confirm if there's that little briefcase in 904sh too, when the phone is roaming (which can't be seen in this photo)? Damn I'm happy if it's legit, though. Post the URL to the source, so that we can check it.

I'm afraid the Japanese manual makes no mention of whether a briefcase appears while roaming (the 902SH and 903SH Jap manuals don't mention it either). So the above picture could have been taken with the phone using a JP Voda SIM and roaming on China Mobile's network, without really being unlocked. Can't be sure unfortunately.

Everyone who knows Chinese please look at all the forums you can, search information. And Korean too, for that matter, as there's a screenshot of a South Korean drama on the 904sh's screen. I'll take a dive into some Japanese sites (-.^)

It looks the same but people in there have a slightly positive attitude about it. Read posts with automatic translation, though - I understand only some kanji and therefore Chinese is a different language for me. It'll take *some* time to confirm these photos into one way or another.

Somehow, i highly doubt it. =o if anything, HK should have the release first. Sharp phones are not that well known in the philippines for it to be sold in Greenhills

yes I totally agree, becaseu most part of the world would not even want to spent that much for a phone nor paying that much to getting it unlock... HK would always be the first one to unlock it but again the price is going to fly high......

the unlock.. i can't say much about it.. not allowed to. but some of hte pictures online that you see.. are not real.. but have been ps'd. but there are some that are real.. the unlock that is currently made. .is a half unlock.. it does unlock.. but it has many bugs. they are working out hte kinks as we speak. i can't say anything else about it tho. sorry.

i don't think korea uses it. they use different techonology. but i coudl be totally wrong..

oh... i see. well, its a transport system whereby you use a card to 'tap-and-go'. nothing to do with handphones... didn't know that that was the 'felica' technology. it'll be cool if we(in singapore) could place our phone on the machine to top up out 'felica' chip and 'tap-and-go' on the MRT(mass rapid transport) and buses.

fyi, they are using this card on vending machines, 7-11 and mcdonalds...

Felica is the Sony branded RFID technology... correct me if I'm wrong...

If the transportation system adopts RFID/felica, it’s not that hard to get everyone to use it. That’s how Octopus started out in HK.

hey remember, the situation in canada and in hk is different, i start driving my car @ 17. much of the people in my age already drive too. it is the environment that support such happening. In canada, it is not a luxury to drive, it is simply a kind of transportation. talking about hk, a population of almost 95% of the people are using the hk subway system, MTR. so if MTR is the company that pushs the octopus, hk people are forced to use it~

it's just not that practical to use felica in canada, because not that many of people use transit in canada.... or i should put it in another way, the transit link system simply don't have that money to integrate the system~

Agreed, and the same applies for Australia.

Sydney has adopted a similar system with cars and tollways. There are about 5 or 6 tollways in Sydney (owned by different operators) who have an "E-Tag" system in place. The "E-Tag" is a little device which is stuck to the windscreen of your car behind your rear-view mirror, and it does basically the exactly same thing as FeliCa.

It uses RFID, and as your drive through the tollgate (at 70km/h), it picks up the unique signal, and checks it against the database, and then they send a bill to you every 3 months summing up your toll-usage.

The system has become pretty big down here because it saves a lot of time, is more convenient, and reduces congestion. Some of the roads do it by distance, so they have an RFID gate every entry and exit, and charge you based on the distance you used the road.

Now of course, unlike FeliCa, you can't pay for your supermarket shopping with this, but it just proves how even in a city relatively small (only 5 mil, tokyo has 25ish from memory), the idea can be brought to life successfully.

THis is what was written to me in PM by the supermod, Aurora. He was the one who banned me temporarily without warning. Later explained as.. having two accounts (one which was never even logged since it was created) then later changed to cause he didn't like my signature because of the URL (the truth comes out). He was the one who unbanned and approved the signature and modified it. then. i was later threatened by another mod to ban me cause i used the "b" word and accussed me of going around the swear filter.

Apart from Dexit (a prepaid keychain tag you put money on so you don't have to "carry around change" when buying from selected downtown stores), we also use RFID toll collecting technology here in Toronto as well. The 407 ETR (its been around for almost what...9 years now?) uses bulky transponder units stuck to car windshields to identify and bill users (as opposed to having your licence plate photographed and paying a $3-something "video toll charge").
