yesterday i purchased a v3c from verizon. i have been trying to understand all of these things that everyone says but i dont get any of it. i have seen screen shots of what you guys do to the phones and was wondering if someone could help me do some of the simple stuff like change start up and shut down screens, change the outside flip-open screen, and a few other things. also i have no clue what programs i need to download and really dont know how to do all of this neat stuff. i would just like to costomize my razr a little bit so it can be unique from everyone else's. thanks a lot - Matt

To get started, check out some of the stuff at www.motomodders.net. Register an account with them and look around in the Downloads and Forums sections. A lot of the programs you need are located there and some beginner guides are in the Forums.

well i sorta learned how to do some of the seem mods but everything past that is just way too complicated. what is the actual advantage to Flashing to Alltel User Interface with my razr and how is it better than just leaving my phone the way it is. lastly i was wondering how can i change the start up and shut down sounds and animations. thanks a lot - Matt

I don't know too much about the RAZR phone as I have a V635. I'm assuming it operates the same since the phones are both Motorolas. MotoKit 1.06 (I can't post the download link here) will allow you to change the start up and shut down images/sounds. You can also make the files yourself and name them to the same ones on your phone already and replace them.

The main advantages to flashing your phone is just to upgrade it and enhance it's capabilities. When you buy the phone, a lot of stuff is usually disabled. For example, Leuko's V635 MP has longer video recording, new skins, and a ton of new features. The different MPs have different features. So, basically, you are just upgrading, updating, and enhancing your phone so it will operate better and to your liking.

Also, just as a disclaimer.... if you do decide to flash your phone, make sure you make a back up! It can save a lot of headaches later.

ok thanks a lot i will try to download that software but now i am using all of these p2k programs and every one that i try to open freezes and says not responding so i cannot mod settings through the p2k programs. what could be causing this??

i think my drivers might be all messed up but what does not help is i cannot read anything on those russian sites . . . are the p2k programs compatible with windows xp?? i need some serious help lol

One suggestion is just to make sure that you have the proper drivers installed for your phone. Sometimes you just have to play around with connecting the phone by unplugging/replugging it in to get it to recognize.

well now someone suggested using MotoKit 1.06. i tried that and once the program loads and comes uo if i click anything inside the program it immediately freezes and says "not responding". what on earth is going on. nothing wants to work on this comp.

Maybe the computer? I haven't had that many problems with the P2K programs. It could be the computer...

If you're having issues with programs freezing, reinstall the drivers and see if that makes a difference

i have done that when i connect the phone i open the folder for windows to search for the drivers that i got somewhere else off of this site and the phone is recognized in windows and the p2k programs perfectly but then if i try to download a seem or click anything in any program then it freezes again. ive restarted the comp multiple times and reinstalled the programs too. nothing wants to cooperate. is there anyone near Armonk, NY that could find me and help me do a couple mods to my phone cuz nothing seems to work and i really do not want to totally screw up my phone?? thanks a lot guys and keep the help coming . . . ill be checking frequently for help . . . ttyl

guys none of the p2k programs will work . . . also the motokit wont work either. i was able to download seems before but i cant get it to work. also when they say you need to go to a certain box or adress in the seem i am confused as to what is what because there are sooo many boxes. btw if anyone is good at this modding stuff and lives near Armonk, NY please post or shoot me a pm and we can arrange to meet because i really do not want to severly mess up my phone. thanks a lot guys - Matt

I was suffering the same problem. Under my p2k commander options, im not sure where it would be on anyone else's software, theres an option called p2k tuning and I had to change it from safe to standard commands. That cleared everything up, hope it works for you!

Ah, come on. Just a few tweaks on your computer and modding will be the easiest part of your day. Dont give up yet, get rid of all programs / drivers besides p2k and we will try again.

Well now that im never going to touch my phone besides quickie mpt uses to add / remove pics... Anyways, dont mess it up or you'll be hurting. Try connecting with the same cord on another computer with mpt or bitpim, if that dosent work its probably the phone / cord. Otherwise try bitpim or mpt on your computer. If that works then chances are its p2k drivers or software you happen to be using.

try installing the drivers again. it sounds like the phone isn't recognized in windows.

otherwise, try using a different app, e.g., p2k commander.
