We got an email from a reader that simply says:

Subject: Sidekick Launch party is at Plumm club in New York
Body: 2-3 weeks from now. A friend says he’s already been invited.

They will have a promotion, but it will be very close to the release date

The reason I think they haven't hyped it up alot is because they know alot people are following any SK 3 news and are on top of it like crazy. So they figure they'll know about before it's lauched and will go buy it. Maybe something like that.

I just talked to someone on t-mobile customer support who said that they are not going to be supporting sidekick 3. I told them that made no sense, they said that is what they are hearing. Seemed incorrect to me, but I just thought I'd mention it.

i have to say that this is totally unreliable, but i am a real skeptical person. on hiptop.com theres been a toon of conversation about this and the only way i will EVER believe its released, is when its on either the danger or tmobile site. plain and simple.

im actually gonna guess it will come out 6/12. They usually get released on a monday, so I'm guessing they will be shipped on 6/6 and be sold 6/12

the stores are always the last to get them like first will be the party that same week the tmobile website will get it... then the first wave of sk2 users will get emails to upgrade and the stores will start putting up Ad's and what not the next week and it hits stores around the same time... the first offical word we will get is the pre launch party thats how it allways is + Danger is said after the sk2 came out they were going to become "apple like" with their devices so we wont really kno till like the day or so before

I think that all stores that aren't T-Mobile stores don't know the release date. Because if they let the cat out of the bag, T-mobile can't do anything about it. Only T-Mobile stores know about it.

The roadmap was fake.

how can they be planning for next year, and having an approx. release date when they haven't created it, got it approved by the FCC, etc...

I've done many focus groups for Sprint and Motorola. It takes them 9 months to create lots of prototypes, see what the focus group wants, do more focus gorups, fix the flaws, create software, mass produce, etc...
You can't plan that far ahead...no way. im sorry

WHAT??!!!!!? ALL BUSINESS is planned years ahead. Do you honestly think Boeing doesn't assume it will get type cert from the FAA when it starts planning a six year airplane program? Of course they do.

OF COURSE you assume you will get cert from whatever regulatory body your product needs. That's what you hire smart people for. They will get your product designed and built so that it passes cert with no issues.

I'm not saying that companies don't plan years in advance. I'm just saying companies don't plan "razr" style sidekicks a year in advance. How do you know the razr style won't be out of style in 6 months?
