Bug: Messages Softkey Won't Work

Most times, when I press the "Messages" SoftKey, the messages application starts. I see the title bar (with the mailbox name), but not the rest of the window. In other words, I see the "Today" screen, where I should see at least with my e-mail Inbox.
BUT, if I launch the Messages app using the "Today" application, it always appears just fine.

SEPARATE QUESTION: The "Messages" app has a bunch of different in-boxes. That would be great if I wanted to have them, but I only want my own POP e-mail box. Instead, there's my POP e-mail box, "MMS", "Outlook E-mail", and "Text Messages." Any way to get rid of the ones I don't want to display?
