Official java installation instructions for D820 using USB cable

Uploading a game to the D820

Make sure to download Uploader.exe and SoftickPPP221.exe

For the best results follow next procedure step by step:

1) Connect phone to PC with USB cable
2) put in code in phone: #*536961# --> then press hang up button
3) put in code in phone: #*536963# --> then press hang up button
4) put in code in phone: #*5737425#
5) select on your phone '1 PPP UP' and then '2 USB'
6) open up Softick PPP
7) check in softick settings under tab 'Bluetooth/serial' if the right com port is selected '\Device\ss_mdm0'
8) Activate Softick
9) start Uploader.exe and load in your desired game
10) select on your phone '2 Serial download'

Install another game:
1) start or activate Uploader.exe and load in your desired game (you can add up more then 1 for batch, only you have to repeat step 2 and 3 and 4 for each game)
2) When a game is finished downloading it will start up automatically, simply press the hangup button to go to main screen
3) put in code in phone: #*5737425#
4) select on your phone '2 Serial download'

When things do not work, disconnect usb cable, please close ALL application, power off your phone and power on again. Then go back to step 1!

but the message you get is like:

Serial java
others disabled

that is the correct one so java is enabled!

Wow, it is much easier doing it over Bluetooth. I just right-click the file on my PC, select send to --> bluetooth device then accept on my phone and that's it. With all the trouble you have to go through to do it over cable, it might be worth it to invest the $20 and get a cheap BT adapter for your PC. Then you can also backup your contacts to Outlook easily and so much more...

I've tried this for the e635 and it reboots when you try to click on the "'1 PPP UP" step ... any guesses. I'm doing this through IrDA, not USB, because Ir ead in another tutorial that you can do it like that and simply do the steps for the USB. Anyways, I bought a USB Cable through eBay, when I get it I'll retry it, I just want to add Games to my e635. Until then, any suggestions for me? I'm on T-mobile's network and in order to DL things from the web you need to pay $5.99/mo - which I'm not doing lol.

Hm, that Softkick thing is asking for a serial... I've only tried it a couple times... anyway to somehow get back to the trial version?

if you install java via Bluetooth...there is no need Softick PPP.....

For those of use that are not that smart the easiest way to upload a Java program to your phone is to use www.funformobile.com. No java codes, no cables, no problems. Just upload the game you want to install (i got mine from getjar.com) and it will send a link to your phone. Then just go to the link and it installs the program. Couldnt be much easier

I followed every detail steps of this guideline, and the phone just keeps rebooting on me whenever I try to upload the java game via USB.

Okay, there's a crucial step that made mine work in which was not included in this guideline.. If other people had the same problem as me, u got to do this following:

On your phone, go to Applications -> Java World -> Options.
In the options menu go to the network settings and fill in the following:
APN: Internet
Username: <leave blank>
Password: <leave blank>
Proxy: OFF
Save Settings.

My phone didn't reboot, and game got uploaded successfully. Yay!

I tried that and it puts them in "other files" and refuses to execute them. Says unknown file format.

It does the same thing if I copy the jar and jad files to the tflash card.

When I follow the instructions in the original post it gets all the way to "downloading java application" then my phone resets and nothing has been added to my java apps.

The phone can obviously retrieve java from a webpage because that's how opera mini is installed. So why can't I just put the jar and jad files on a webpage and then access that page using opera mini?

And there is probably a file renaming trick that would work as well to tell the samsung to install the files.

Any ideas how to stop my phone from resetting and getting the usb method to work as well?

Setting internet for java connection profile worked. God this is tedious. You have to power cycle and do everything all over for each and every game.

I installed several apps but now I have a new problem. Whatever those codes did, screwed up my WAP. I keep getting "gateway connection timeout" whenever I try to use WAP now. How do I set it back?

ok i found my problem

my phone is a t809 flashed to a d820 Make sure USB setting is set to modem .
make sure your computer can read the phone just because softpick sees it doesn't mean it is connected (I GUESS) make sure Samsung PC Studio 3 can see it. then close that once Samsung PC Studio 3 can read the phone. and the start softpick and continue i almost gave up after trying for 3 days but i was determined to find the issue *** it work before i flashed it but i foumd that to be the problem even though softpick seen it Samsung PC Studio 3 didn't see it as soon as Samsung PC Studio 3 seen the phone. i close it and then opened softpick and upload.exe folllowed the step and wierd it work and it has worked 100% after that

D900, D820, D600, D500 is the same platform....

hi! i got it already, dont know how, but im glad it worked! only i have another problem, how to transfer the java games to the memory card? it seems like the games and apps that im uploading are using my phones memory.

The only place that java games/apps will work is in the phone's memory (Java World).

I selected the right com port over the usb setting thing in softpick, but i still get that unable to find the ubsport.dll or whatever problem, so softpick doens't see the phone!!!

Do you guys know how to use EDGE on Java apps like Google Maps or Opera Mini? It's driving me nuts. I'm used to browsing on the internal browser at edge speeds, going back to gprs gets me frustrated

Please actually read ALL of the posts better. The D807 you have is not the same as the T809/D820. It is based off of the D800 and those with actual D800's already mention the codes posted doesn't work.

- PC Studio v3.1.0 FIB
- SoftickPPP v234 (SoftickPPP234-en.exe)
- Samsung XXXX Java Uploader v1.1 by Jabberwock (Uploader.exe)

From reading all the posts i tried each step one-by-one until the game had been installed, but when it try to starts, i got the JAVA Game Error.

I tried everything
- First disabling on the JAVA WORLD de options from USER/PASSWD
-- Enter the codes #*... as recommended
--- Running the softwares as recommended too
---- All works fine, but I got error when load it.
.
- I tried letting the JAVA WORLD settings as default
-- The cel phone restarts when tranfering the game
.
- I restarted many times, restarting/disabling/enabling the SoftPPP
-- Verify many times the settings
--- Reinstalled the Softwares twice...
and nothing, the game not work after tranfered.
.
Another thing is that I had to use the JADMaker, because my games are only .JAR and the JavaUP just loads the JAD extension.

I tried to update not one, but 5 different games and no success.

edit: I upgraded to the latest firmware now it just hangs on the progress bar and then after a minute says install error

and uninstall softickppp, reset all setting n restart the comp.

i have install java games via Bluetooth and or via USB cable.....so far there are no problem on it.

u can download D600 games and install on D820, cause d600 n d820 has the same res. screen and same platform

i have tried the step-by-step tutorial here and my d820 always restarts,
until i connected my PC to the internet

i'm not sure, but i think it's somehow related to the part of the tutorial that says you should change the JavaWorld's APN to "Internet"

i wonder is there any alternate setting for the APN that doesn't require the PC to be connected to the internet??

Hey everyone,

So I'm new here; anyway I've read this thread multiple times and tried everything over and over again - no luck. I'm not sure if there's anything else that can be done.

I have a D820 and am trying to install games. I used JADMaker to convert some old Jar games I had, and uploaded them exactly as the instructions. Every few times, it reboots, says "Install Error" or just goes to the transfer screen (on the phone) and then gets hung.

I've disabled all proxies and even tried changing my Java World 'Network Settings' APN to Internet (though I don't know what that does). Nothing worked.

Any fresh ideas? Suggestions as to what could be the problem?

I can't believe it,yesterday after 8 hours i finally managed to figure all out,and today it doesn't work anymore...when i send a game the phone blocks at downloading. Does anyone have a suggestion plz?

awsome man great news i bet the only resaon that didn't work was cause u needed memory try deleting something or moving it to ur memory card and when u get back plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

i don't know exactly what to tell you(i used bluetooth) make sure ur phone is connected to ur PC before u run the PPP thingy

. Reinsall it and run PPP after connection... Try both with connection to internet and without. The COMx connection is the connection PC <-> phone. I'm just guessing,but try it if u didn't allready. Best of luck!!!

i usually used Bluetooth dongle and install java without softickPPP.....so i dont know about ur com port....i think u can try to uninstall sPPP...and install again....or u can try use BT dongle if u have...

so i send 2 games over then it stopped working the download just stays at 0% then after a min it says failed or just go back to main screen. im using bluetooth by the way. you basically follow the set up guide for d500 (http://users.skynet.be/yozy/tutoria...d500/d500-1.htm) BUT the PROBLEM WITH IT was that you cant connect through widcomm serial port AND use SOFTick ppp

. in fact DONT connect with widcomm serial port. just use SOFTick ppp (COM 7) and activate then open uploader add game and type #*536963# -> #*5737425# -> PPP up -> Bluetooth -> serial download
oo and for JAVA APN you need to type something (anything) in the box

okay, i was stuck with that same result for the longest time on my d900, but combing these forums i found that it helped to disable my internet connection when using the usb cable... i'm assuming it has something to do with the setting of the phone's usb as modem and then having another internet connection live... i don't know... but anyway, after i disabled my internet and went through the steps in that tutorial, it all worked like a charm.

i did find that the softick ppp program was crashing in the background and making it so that nothing recognized my phone, so each time i wanted it to work i had to uninstall softick first, then connect phone and make sure samsung pc studio worked, and then installing softick again. (annoying)
hope this helps... the key is to disable your internet connection.
anyway i have games now. yay!

This thread is great! I have a little bit of a twist though, in that I'm stuck trying to figure out how to upload my java games from a Mac via bluetooth. My phone is a SGH-D820 and no matter how many variations of the above I try I am only able to send my games to the "Other Files" folder on my phone. I still can't figure out how to send/install them properly.
Any advice that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Can anyone help with finding java uploader that works I have looked everywhere, I have Vista could that be a problem. This is for a samsung e250 phone. I have been trying to get games for months now and its driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
