Firmware Upgrade for E815

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi, I have a couple of questions on upgrading the firmware on my E815.

I know it's recommended not to do it if I don't have a real problem, but the poor vibrate pisses me off and I want to try and improve that.

So here are my questions:

I seem edited my E815 to allow bluetooth with my PC (to upload MP3s, pics, etc.). I would update the phone myself, but I don't want to take the risk. If I go to a Verizon store and have them update it, do I need to re-edit the phone or can I keep it how it is?

And my second question: once the new firmware is installed, do I need to edit the phone again to allow bluetooth communication with my phone or will that remain unaffected?

Thanks and I apologize if I am repeating any questions from other threads.

yeah it overwrites all the seems so youd have to reseem edit it...or just take the preconfigured 2742 seem here:

Thanks.

But will the Verizon people know I tinkered with the phone?

YES, They will know and it will void warrienty. Thats why I did to my phone after 1 year of usage. Since it didnt matter. If you follow the directions for changing the seem. Opening up bluetooth works awesome. And adding ring tones is a breeze. I Love the guys here's . But hate Verizon Bluetooth policy. Of Locking Phones.

If you can't see it from the phone's screen or menus... NO the STORE will not know...

So if you did a banner edit, or changed skins, or such... the store will see it..

Otherwise, if all you did was a seem edit for BT OBEX, then no...

PS. After flashing expect to re-do all seem edits, custom menu settings (like back light time out, etc), etc... BUT Pictures, sounds, contacts should still be there, but back up just incase...

EDIT: and be carefull when loading a PRE-EDIT Seem... you want to be sure its for your phone... and what all was done... (there are some bits different between Verizon and Bell for example... it appears to work, but you never know..) Always keep copies of your UN-EDITED seeems!!
