The Definitive Sony Ericsson w600/k750/w800 Game Installation Guide (with Pictures)

So a lot of people are wondering how on Earth to install games onto their SE phones. I will be illustrating transferring games onto your Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone by using a w600i (from Cingular) as well as with the supplied data cable. Please note that games can also be transferred and installed to your phone by bluetooth...but I will be not showing that since I find bluetooth transfers to be much slower than the data cable method....

STEP 1:

Install the supplied drivers and programs that came with your w600 phone - follow the instructions that came with the phone and program...i really not going to explain the basics of installing the software...again just read the directions....

After the successful installation, your desktop should have created two icons. One labeled Sony Ericsson PC Suite and the other labeled Sony Ericsson File Manager.

Step 2: Connect the supplied USB cable to your phone and then to a open USB slot in your computer. Once the phone is connected to your computer the Sony Ericsson PC Suite might or might not start up automatically. If it does start up. Just close the application.

Step 3: Find a game you would like to install on your phone (preferrable on Howard Forums, hehehe) and place the games .jar file on your desktop (or know which folder it is in since you will have to drag and drop this later).

Step 4: On your desktop double click the Sony Ericsson File Manager Icon.

Then double click the icon you see in the Sony Ericsson File Manager. The icon can be labeled many things since it depends on how you name your phone. I believe my label is the default label.

Step 5: After clicking the icon found in the Sony Ericsson File Manager, you should see a screen like this, which lists the folders on your phone.

Step 6: Locate the game you would like to install and drag and drop into the window that opened up. Make sure the game does not go into the folders labeled: Other, Pictures, Sounds, Themes, and Videos. Just drag and drop the .jar file into anywhere in the white space you see.

Automatically, after you drop the .jar game file into the "white area" of that folder...the game will start installing on your phone.

You should see a progress bar indicating the percent of the game transferred. Next the phone will automatically install the game. Once installation is finished you should see a prompt on where the game should be saved, click games and your done.

Step 7: Go to the game menu and select your game and enjoy!

If there is anything else i should add to this please let me know.

This should help some people who dont know how to go about and transfer and install the games found here...

Can you put it in the other folder and later on select "install" in the file manager in-phone?

yes you could...but thats an unnecessary step...since you have to transfer to that folder and then install from the "other" folder. Then if you need more room on your phone you have to delete the original .jar file from the other folder.

But one good point about moving games installation files (.jar) in the other folder is that if you would like to send games to other people who would be able to since you can send that .jar file located in the "other" via IR or bluetooth to other people....

why dont you give us a link with the .zip file...

there are some games which are in .zip which you must convert to .jar with a program...but are rare.... if you provide me with a link I can double check for you if you need to use the program or not....

but anyway....i will post the .zip to .jar program....to use the program drag the zip2jar file into a folder with your .zip file....then run the program...it will convert ALL zip files to .jar...so make sure all you have in that folder are the games you think are in .zip format...

use it wisely...
