Has anyone successfully remove the Cingular Logo and 8125 on the casing of their 8125 yet? w/o damaging the cosmetics of course....

anyone?

i heard a sugarcube and slowly rub it off.

Posted by: flyhen

Can someone verify this?

Posted by: Mattb2005

i heard a bullion cube, and chicken not beef

Posted by: ReDRoVeR

hmmm I heard beef not chicken :-P

why would you want to remove the logo?

Try rubbing alcohol or paint thinner?

Posted by: Mattb2005

If its really something that bothers you get a case to cover it up or buy a housing of ebay or somewhere that doesnt have the logo on it

Posted by: flyhen

its just my pet peeves. I dont like carrier logo on my phones.

I haven't really tried anything yet, just b/c I dont want to risk ruin the housing.

spray paint the entire case

Thats about the stupidest thing you can do

Posted by: devGOD

don't do the paint thinner that will strip off the case paint too. if its that big of a deal sand it off and custom paint the case a different color or the same. I've never really noticed the cingular logo untill you mentioned it. you do know there is a 8125 on the lower right.

If its anything like a T610 housing, try a penny and rub softly (painted on metal)

No but I have read the horror stories about it. It will chip off your paint and then your left with a very expensive ugly phone.

Posted by: flyhen

yeah, i dont think using the thinner will be a good idea.
i dont want to mess up the casing. and yes, i tried using a penny, it's not doing anything. T610 has a metal casing, hence it will come off. Not the 8125

The funny thing is I just looked at my phone and doesn't have any logos on it. Its blank.

Posted by: devGOD

i think you should just accept that its there, the more you mess with it the greater the chance of scratching the case or leaving an ugly mark where the logo is at.

Posted by: flyhen

that's why i haven't messed with it yet. thought about using a pocket knife.. well, the (R) next to Cingular came off, but there is some very minor scratches. So i am gonna stop.

Your not going to be able to get the "8125" logo off on the right bottom side. It is embedded into the casing (cut into then inked)
The Cingular logo on the top can be taken off but its not that noticable so just leave it be instead of ruining the looks of the phone.

Well you theoretically could dremel it but if anyone recalls the last guy who tried that method.....well lets just say more than a logo was removed.

Wouldn't have been easier just to buy an unbranded (I-mate K-JAM, Dopod 838) model? I don't get why some people buy a device whose sole branding is from the carrier (Cingular 8125, T-Mobile MDA, etc) and then they complain about the carrier branding. I mean, what do you call the device then?

hammer and chisel

nail polish remover will do it, but to much will clear the coating on the plastic. use a small dab on a q-tip and rub over the lettering once. then use a soft towel to try to wipe off the lettering. repeat this step until the lettering is removed.

or you can just rub the lettering with the q-tip until the lettering comes off. but you have to be very careful. this trick works real well with lettering that is baked on to surfaces. but keep in mind it is a type of paint remover.

Posted by: flyhen

great, now i will just need to find some nail polish remover.

:-)

Posted by: ReDRoVeR

id use liquid paper...then you can write on whatever you want on top :-P

Posted by: devGOD

are you seriously going to risk getting nail polish remover on your screen, or in the speaker just to remove a few letters? not to mention removing the clear coat which if mostly going to come off too.
