SLVR freezes & reboots itself - suggestions?

hi,

my boyfriend just got a SLVR about two weeks ago from CompUSA. he hasn't done any kind of seem edits to it whatsoever...but in the past few days, he's been experiencing 2 problems:

1) when he goes into the main menu, then makes a selection to go into messaging, recent calls, my stuff--whatever--he'll get a "Please wait" message and his phone just freezes up on that...eventually it'll unfreeze itself by turning itself off and restarting

2) even when he's not going into any menus (he could be in the middle of a phone call) the phone will just randomly turn itself off and restart

both of these problems are very frequent.

any ideas? thanks in advance!

You can find out what S/W version it has on it the try to reflash it, but why deal with it ???the fone is new take it back for exchange

yeah, i figured that would be the response i'd get.

only reason i asked is because the CompUSA is 40 minutes away..anyways, we did end up going back and he exchanged his phone on sunday, but started having the same exact problem with the new one right away. we talked to a guy at two different cingular stores and of course they were giving us the run-around since the phone was bought through compusa, but the second gentleman put my boyfriend on the phone with the cingular warranty dept. they're issuing him a new phone (well, new to him; might be a refurb) and giving him a new sim card (the guy said, in case that's the problem). so hopefully it'll be resolved now. maybe compusa got a bad batch of software or something..
