Need Help with resseting SIDEKICK 2....Please Help!!

I bought a used sidekick 2 off someone who never gave it back to his ex girlfriend or something and i had recently messed up my old sk2 so i buy the one from my friend but when i put my sim card in it doesnt work so i try to sign in to the network and it will just stay at the sign in screen...my question is how do you do a hard reset? i know you can do a soft reset by just pressing the button but what is the one that t-mobile tells you to do ova the fone...someone please help me...

hold the sidekick in one hand with the screen open halfway use a paper clip to push the reset button on the right side...dont jam it in... while it is pressed in push in the power button and release the paper clip when it vibrates let go of the power button
