ok, I dunno if anyone knows how to fix this or whatever but I'll throw it out there....

When recieving a phone call my phone will display in the bottom left corner "Call Status" and the phone icon will pop up on the top right corner indicating I am in a phone call. BUT The phone will not display who it is that is calling, nor will it ring. After about 10 seconds, it will finallyt ring and show who it is. is there anyway to fix this?

Check list of possible causes:
1. Is your contact list over 300 entries?
2. Are you using a custom ring that is over 30 second or 300kb in size?
3. What third party software have you installed?

1.) I have more than 300 contacts.
2.) My ringer is 30 seconds long, but even when I have the default one set it still does it.
3.) The only 3rd party app I have is Agile Messenger, but it's not on.

As a test, trim your contact list to fewer than 300.. I have seen it posted several times that most PDA phones are not fast enough to scan more than 300 entries for CID information.

You see the phone will recieve the caller ID number, then it will scan the contact list, it is not until it finds a match or reaches the end that it decides what ring to play.

This is most likely your problem and I haven't seen a fix for it other than triming your primary contact list that you sync down to 300 or less contacts.

You can find more info about the 6700 at ppc6700users.com

I have the same problem - but it only happens when the phone is in sleep mode (screen turned off).
While Lazybones solution will work - i have a contact list of over 3000 clients and it defeats the purpose of buying a PDA phone if I have to trim my contact list to get it to work properly.

FWIW I never had that problem when using my BB 7250.

If you only have the problem when the phone is a sleep it might be a different issue.
1. Do you have any ALWAYS ON thirdparty apps installed to the miniSD card? The access time of the SD card is very poor compaired to main memory, as well the SD card is the last thing to wakup from sleep mode, often causing a large delay for any app installed there.

2. The 6700 is by default slower to repond to incomming calls than some phones.. There is a provider setting that determins how often it checks the tower for an incomming call, I believe the default is somewhere beteen 2.5 and 5 sec in the worst case that the call came in exactly after the last time it polled. This can be tuned if you are able to get the programing code from your provider.

There are several threads on delayed ringing issues over a ppc6700users.com.

The only time I have had a problem is when I was running an app that was using up lots of CPU power and trying to answer on my BT head set.. I haven't had any problem since, but I don't have a very large contact list.

Hi Lazybones - thanks for the ideas...
The only thing I have on my SD other than media is mapopolis which is only used sparingly and not running in the background.
Maybe it is the ringtones that I am using from the mini SD... I may try loading a couple onto the phones main memory and see if it helps.
When the ringtone would not produce and the call display not come up for 5-6 rings I would still get a beep in my BT headset so at least I was aware of a call if my headset was on.
Thanks again - Anyone here use the 7130E ? I am getting tempted to switch over...

Ya, DON't store your ringtones on the miniSD.. as I said the miniSD is the last thing to wakeup from standby and it's access time is poor. Also make sure your ringtone file size is 300K or less and less than 30s long just like the standard ones.

Your ringtones are on the miniSD? That's probably the problem right there.... or at least part of it.
