Pink Razr V3 / Razr V3i Ring Volume & Vibration Strength

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The ring volume on the Pink Razr is not acceptable - it's just too quiet, even on non-polyphonic rings. The vibrator is also very weak. Is there any secret to dramatically increase the ring volume? I'm thinking not... but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I'm also curious how the V3i compares to the Pink V3 in terms of ring volume and vibration strength.

I'm looking for a phone with a LOT of ring volume, and if possible, strong vibration. The Treo 650 at maximum volume is superb in these departments. Sleek/cool phone suggestions are welcome, preferably with bluetooth and EDGE.

The Ring volume of the V3(i) can be modified via the gain_table.bin file (do a search and you should find ample resources).

As far as the vibration strength, I haven't noticed a difference between my Black V3 or Silver V3 now that I have a V3i.

The question is... how much? How loud can it go?

I suggest nothing past 4 on the V3.

Unless you don't mind destroying your phone's speaker!

I'm not sure how loud "4" is... can anybody compare it to the default settings at maximum volume?

Check out http://www.xlr8.us/hofo/. In particular http://www.xlr8.us/hofo/map.txt. There is a lot of detail there on the gain_table.bin. There are default and recommended settings for a lot of items.

Also, the loudness of "4" is relative. For example, a ring loudness of 7 might not sound loud if the master level is set to 1.

Can somebody please give me a bottom line here? I want to know how much the V3's ringer can be increased in relative maximum volume without causing damage. 50%? 100%? I think for it to be satisfactory it needs to be somewhere like 100-200%.

That is all relative and unknown. What may be okay for me may not be for you, play with different settings until you get what you like. These are my settings:

WHat kills me is that people keep posting about the "pink" Razr, or "black" Razr, or whatever color they have. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT COLOR YOUR FREAKING CASE IS, they're all the same damn phone! Just because Motorola introduced a new color doesn't mean it's a new phone.
