I only found this Chinese site from member "the blue" when he mentioned it in a recent thread about an alleged 904 unlock so thanks to him for posting a link to the site.
I was looking through the site and found 2 slightly different reviews but with shots I imagine some of you have never seen before, I certainly have not seen them.
If you're on the fence about this phone some of these shots will have you running to the bank.

2.4 inches VGA resolution screen, GPS global positioning system, Facial Recognition, 6 joints motion detector, felica, bluetooth gaming connection are some of the never seen technology on mobile phones. since the date 904sh is released, it has attracted many eyes and became the hottest topic in many japanese discussion board. Not long after 904sh is released, we, PC online mobile channel has received a japanese retail version 904sh. Such enormous debute and hype has made us very much looking forward to test this machine out. Our last review on this machines was on April 27th, which we have talked about the appearance, colour, sound and camera; and now, we will take a look at the everyday aspect of this phone; we will also further go into detail on some of the new features, new specialty which give this phone the major attraction to become the new generation of king of all mobile phone.

　　夏普904SH的操作反应并没有像多普达900那样，因为采用了VGA的屏幕而反应缓慢，其整体的反应 与903SH相当，在此也就说明了904SH内置了一块强劲的手机显卡支持，因为高分辨率的屏幕对于系统的 硬件要求是很高的。在信息编辑方面，由于本次受到的904SH网络锁未解，因此在国内无法正常使用，不过对 于其功能的试用并没有构成太大的影响。

Basic Function and usage:

Screen wise, as much as it is similar to the Toshiba 900 series, they both share the same spec on the screen, a VGA resolution screen. However, unlike the toshiba, we have not seen any delays while using the phone; overall, speed wise it is very similar to a 903sh. Because VGA resolution screen requires very high hardware specification, so it gives us a hint that an extraordinary video card is supporting this phone. On text messege perspective, because we are not able to connect to our own network (being the reason that it has not been unlocked yet), we are unable to test out this part.

Text messege wise, 904sh has inherited 903sh's interface. By combining the edit of picture message and text message together, through a list of command in the menu, you are able to freely add any multimedia document with ease. when an user need to add a picture that is over the limit of allowance (300k), the phone will automatically help you zips the file into the appropriate formate. Also, before zipping, it will give you several options on the size, giving great conveneience to text and picture messaging. Because this time 904sh is using a VGA screen, the improvement of such spec on text message is that it allows much more text to be displayed at the same time, almost double to triple the content of the previous model. with the received of a text message, user is able to see the fonts in 3D version; under the VGA screen power, the font is very real and crisp, it looks as tho it really pops out from the screen; the result proves to be astonishing. through testing the text typing speed in japanese and english, we found out that the speed has improved a lot from 903sh, from this specific point we can see that sharp has made specific pinpoint to these minor problem, improving the 904 based on the 903 basis. In here, unfortunately, we are unable to test the chinese typing speed as the chinese fireware has not yet been released. we really hope thta sharp is able to address the chinese input problem and made improvement just like what they did to the english input. Talking about message storing, all message is able to be stored in the memory card, which means that there will be no worry to running out of space in storing message in phone~

Organization tool wise, 904sh conitnue to support phonebook function; from our testing machine, we are able to store 500 set of accounts, with each account able to store up to six phone numbers. some of the catagories you can classify your phone number includes: mobile, office mobile, home, office, video call number (obvious for 3G), and fax, addition to that, you will also get to place to put the email addresses. Grouping wise, it has provided one with 15 groups, users are able to customize the name of the group at their will. Also, 904sh support electronical name card, you can edit your name card so to exchange them through bluetooth, text message or infrared.

sharp has made 904 support fully on usb transfering, through usb cable and appropriate software, users are able to make comprehensive control and organization to the documents in the phone. other than the wired solution, 904sh also provide the standard wireless infrared or bluetooth connection. On the bluetooth aspect, however, 904 did not improve the weakness of the 903, while doing bluetooth synchroization, the phone will also kicks into flight mode just like 903, shutting down all receptions and affecting the normal usage of the phone. In another word, transfering big file that takes time will sometimes cause one to miss calls, such weakness has create very inconveniencies for users. Internal memory wise, 904sh comes with 17MB internal memory, which is almost the same as the 903sh; for futher expansion to the memory, 904sh will continue to support miniSD, and it will support up to 2GB.

Entertainment:

sharp has included a stand alone music player, which supports the playback of music files such as mp3, acc etc. however, in the mp3 type of file wise, the DRM restriction of mp3 file has restrict 904sh to play music file that are directly transfer from the computer; file directed to specific folder are not playable unless the music file is transfer through a software that re ensure the copyright of such file. though it has caused more trouble, yet it has provide copyright protection with great support. the mp3 function on the 904 is rather simple, the music player provide user with four kinds of playback settings and six kinds of EQ selections; among those, karaoke is the newest and prove to be the most interesting, after choosing such EQ, the vocal of the playing song is totally taken off, making karaoke function in the phone becoming a reality. also, the music player of 904 support background playing, which means that you are able to press the back button to again go back to the home screen or close the phone while the music player still remain running.

But I was reading that Toshiba announced that they will start making 2GB miniSD cards because more and more phones use them. I wonder if those ones will be compatible?

The integrated streaming and tv player in the sharp 904 support video streaming file such as mpeg4, 3gp, asf etc. On the video streaming side, 904 has a superb support, though it is still require to store the file into a specific folder, the 904sh does not have any copyright restriction to the video side. The playback graphic of the video shown in the test machine gave us an surprising and stunning impression that video playback is extremely smooth, qulaity also proves to be extremely ideal. in our scoring scale, the detailness and the richness of the colour and quality of the video playback has bring the video playback score of 904 a clear winning 10 out of 10. Additionally, unlike the toshiba 900 series, all the video file that are in QVGA format can be displayed in full screen. Because we don't have any VGA video files on hand, and since it's really hard to find any on the internet, we are unable to test out the playback function of the 904 in VGA quality. if the playback of the VGA is smooth and playable, a movie on the 904sh will be extremely exciting seeing that VGA screen provide with extremely crisp and detail graphic, the quality to us will be unimaginable.

Becasue there isn't any 3G network in the comrade mainland of china, and even there is one, it won't be a vodafone network, therefore we are not able to make a proper review on that. Specification wise, the technology isn't really a innovative invention from the sharp, it accounts more toward the 3G network of Japan, as seen on the Toshiba 904T, it also has the GPS global positioning system.

Additionally, Sharp 904 has also manipulate the 6 joints motion sensor into gaming. within the game list, one of the fishing game is a good example, by using the motion sensor, the game is done thru a set of action such as, throwing the hook and pulling to imitate real fishing experience. the whole game is very real, fun, and entertaining.

on the sharp 904, there is a part that stuck up with a small tag/symbol, this such thing has never appeared in any sharp phone before. this small gadget is call Felica, vodafone and felica group has together bring this function onto the 904sh. through the internal Felica electronical money chipset, the user is able to swap the phone thru the detector of an felica supported shop, this idea is very similar to the hong kong octopus system and serve the exact same purpose. the idea behind this invention is to combine different appliance into one, such as phone with electronical wallet etc. Under the menu, sharp has provide user with lots of related information and setting about the felica system, which helps the user to conveneinly deal with their account.

蓝牙游戏连线、内置游戏

　　虽然利用蓝牙进行连线游戏对战已不是新鲜事，但是在蓝牙连接一直有缺陷的夏普身上则一直是被人唾弃的一 个问题，而夏普904SH则重新重视了这一问题，终于为大家提供了蓝牙游戏连线对战的功能。在内置的游戏中 ，其中有多款游戏均支持蓝牙的连接对战，不过由于只收到了一台904SH的关系，我们也无法对其进行测试， 在多款游戏的菜单中均可以发现蓝牙连接的功能。

Even though bluetooth gaming connection is not something new, yet this weakness has always remain in an sharp phone, and it has always been a problem that make people question a sharp phone's functionality. This time, sharp has reviewd this problem and makes appropriate step to resolve it. In the on board game list, there are quite a few games that support bluetooth gaming connection. However, becasue we only have one 904sh on hand, we are not able to test out the function.

夏普904SH内置了十分多的JAVA应用游戏和软件，超过15款的JAVA游戏和软件琳琅满目，在此对于 内置的游戏和软件便不一一介绍了，每一款都是日文的菜单，不过娱乐性可是每个都超强，是众多韩系手机所无法 比拟的，熟悉日文的朋友可以大娱特娱一番了。

Sharp has included many games this time, there are over 15 games and many different kinds of software. In here we will not describe them one by one. though all games are in Japanese, the entertaining aspect of the games are very strong. JAVA声色电子漫画

待机时间

　　夏普在手机的待机方面一直不是强项，电池的容量也普遍较小，诺大的机身只是配备了一块900毫安的小容 量电池。在待机时间的测试中，连续1小时的通话、收发20条短信息和10条彩信的收发之后手机可持续工作3 5小时左右，而在连续通话30分钟、收发10条短信息和5条彩信的收发之后的续航时间约为45小时，VGA 分辨率的屏幕有着较大的耗电量，900毫安的电池较难满足日常的使用，改变不了其耗电量较大的这一现象，较 为令人该弹遗憾。

Stand by time:

Stand by time on any sharp phones are not their specialties, the capacity of the batteries are usually commonly small, the fair sized phone is paired with a battery only containing 900mh. Under the test of the stand by time, after a continuous usage of one hr talk time, plus 20 text messages and 10 picture messages, the phone is able to stand by for another 35 hrs. under a continous talk time of 30 mins, receiveing of 10 text messages and 5 picture messages, the phone is able to stand by for another 45 hrs. The fact that the screen is VGA eats up more battery, with a 900mh battery it is only not able to serve for normal daily usage. this point proves to be a bit disappointing.

me like samsung D800 very muchie~!!!!!

i mean, if i dont' care about the function, if i would want a phone with a lot of style, i will get a D800, it looks so slick, so elegant, soooo classy~!!!!

i say D800 will be 10x the style of nokia 8800, 10x the coolness of 8800, 2x cheaper than the 8800, and you will at least get a decent and large screen with 1.3 megapixel camera, not those 0.3 on the nokia.....

from the comparison, 8800 stands no chance~ my opinion tho~

i look at the d800 today and it just has the build quality and feeling of 8800 but a lot better~!!! i am thinking of getting one for my mom~ i mean for 380 for a brand new one with no tax, why not!?

talking about comparing the two phones..... well they are very different thing, i guess d800 is best for people who don't play phone to use it....

like my parents, they don't really need a fancy phone, but they need one that looks good, especiallly like my dad who's a businessman, that's the whole spirit behind 8800, it's all about looking good, as for the 904, it's da bomb!!!!!

btw when i got both on my hand, i will write you guys some review and show some picture~ stay tone for a new thread~~ heeeeeee

how exactly do you try it out? besides, it's not unlocked yet. i can think of no way for it to communicate with a pinpointing device

I just put my 904T near the window and it is able to get the coordinates. If you put in a Vodafone KK sim card it to the phone and use the locate me, I think it should work. As far as I know Rogers or Fido don’t have AGPS (if they have AGPS, I don’t need to put the phone next to the window). Base on how we are able to get coordinates with the phone in North America, it looks like the phone is able to talk to regular GPS system. This is what I can come up with base on my 904T on a $0 balance pre-paid Fido sim card. If someone has better knowledge on GPS or Rogers/Fido network, please let us know.
