[V3] Normal problem or bad phone / sim

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm with Cingular and got a Razr V3 for my wife.
A few times when she has tried to store phone numbers, it will erase other existing phone numbers. Further, if I want to change a Contact to speed dial #3, it deletes the entire contact for the current speed dial #3 person.
Lastly, I tried to add a number (Mobile) to an existing contact (using the Edit->More->Add number route) and instead of just adding a number of a different type, it duplicated the entry in the Contacts list and just changed the Type icons.

Is this normal behavior, or did I get a "Lemon" phone. I can still send it back if I need to, but have to decide this week. Thanks.

1st problem: don't know about this one, unless it is overwriting speed dial slots, in which it would be working as intended

2nd problem: if you're changing a speed dial to number 3, it is moving it to phone number slot 3, overwriting what the previous number 3 was... working as intended.

3rd problem: working as intended, it'll show new entries for each different type of phone

my answers might not be 100% right, but it's what I've experienced with my V3 and my V400

i'd take it back and let Cingular take care of it - even their new V3R model is having problems. nothing should delete existing numbers except your choice to delete them. changing the speed dial number should not erase the entry.

If that was the case, the first 9 phonebook entries would go to speed dial 1-9. Then, each subsequent entry would not be assigned to a single-digit speed dial number. So, by assigning, say, your 23rd phone book entry to Speed dial #2, the second contact you entered that was originally assigned to speed dial #2 would be deleted.
If this is the case, then that is simply ridiculous. Assigning entry #23 to speed dial two should simply unassign entry #2 to speed dial #2. Entry #2 shouldn't be erased. If this is "working as intended" then we are going to have problems.
I'll swing by Cingular tomorrow.

If I try to assign a speed dial # that is already taken, my V3 asks me if I want to delete the existing entry (also tells me the name of the entry). If I choose No, it brings me back to the screen to pick another speed dial number.

see, what you're saying makes sense, and would be the logical way it should be programmed..., but I could easily see them messing this up, by assigning the speed dial value to the index value
