So do we think the N73 is comming to Cingular this summer when it launches? I am just curious because this is the first new phone I have wanted since I waited 6 monthes for the Nortorious 6620.

I too want to know! Please someone tell us it will and soon..

Suposedly there is a non WCDMA version that will being comming to the North American Market. It was approved by the FCC on the 31st of July. So anyone have any details. I don't have UMTS/HSPDA in my market so i personally don't care about the WCMDA thing anymore.

no, i think the chances of this phone getting released in the US within the next 6months are slim to none

the N73 has been available for a while. Check out http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n73-1550.php, there is a list of online retailers who are selling it, including samstores.

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it

Yes the Euro Version is out. But, Nokia has made a "North American" verison (QFXRM-132) of the N73 that does not have the 2100MHz UMTS. Why would cingular spend the time to make a version for North America, if no carrier was going to carry it?

Cingular doesn't make any versions

So far, Cingular rejected 3 Nokia phones this year, N80, 6282, and 6126. I would say N73 has little to no chance.

No one seems to have the non-umts version yet, but
why wait for them to remove a feature which you can ust as easily ignore?

I have an N73 which I purchased from an importer. I just went into the setup menus and told it to use GSM only. I guess it's possible that the non-UMTS version will be slightly cheaper, but otherwise, waiting doesn't make much sense. Besides, if it's really just a question of money, how much is your time worth which will be spent tracking forums and following up on rumors? The price of an N73 w/UMTS is fast approaching the price of an unlocked 6682.

Haha... currently I have time, what I don't have is money. And, I am currently up for an upgrade with Cingular. And, I have stopped watching the forums, ever since the Cingular forum split there is too much crap to sort through.

Well, I'm not sure what it was about the N73 which attracted you to it, but
if you don't need a 3.2 megapixel camera the nokia 6682 from cingular is a
pretty nice series 60 phone. ( there's actually more software available for series 60 v 2 phones than newer v 3 phones lik ethe N73 ) If you want to sign another contract and get a series 60 phone, that's your best bet today. If you want to wait a bit, the E62 might suit you. I have no idea what series 60 phones might be coming to cingular after that.

I think Nokia is going to forget the n-73 -non umts version, and go with the 800/1900 umts version. Like this 800/1900/2100 umts, quad gsm.

Have we seen a 800/1900/2100 umts version?

I love Nokia devices but, I hate their marketing tactics. I'll probably go to Palm or a windows mobile device. Since Symbian S60 9.1 is only UMTS capable and not HSPDA capable.

Most Nokia phones probably have been rejected because no present Nokia devices are HSPDA compatible. Motorola, Palm, and HTC all are going to offer HSPDA smartphone devices. Therefore, why would Cingular pick up devices that are just UMTS. It's bad enough Nokia smartphones don't sell that strongly in the U.S. Partially, because of Nokia'a gimmicks, they always use, "Ooops we forgot that feature", tactics to stay a step behind other manufacturers and to keep Symbian lovers going every six months to a year to buy a new device to stay up with technology.

Buy a Nokia device now and I hope you will be able to sell it next year when Symbian S60 9.3 is released next year in some new devices. I will not have one of those Razor using, trend following, basic phone users standing beside me with a basic/high-end device blowing me away data speed wise for sports scores, for instance.

GET IT TOGETHER NOKIA!!!

Whoa! Totally agree. I love Nokia Phones, but why can't they make a phone with all the latest features and get it out on time? Seriously for the worlds largest phone manufacturer, can it really be that hard?

The chances of seeing an N73 with NA UMTS bands are slim and none. If you really want an N73, just get it now instead of holding out for a new version. It's a nifty mobile. I had one for a week, but palmed it off to a coworker. Candybars just aren't my thing right now.
