How to Erase PDS History on V3

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I did a full-backup on my V3, not an individual backup of the PDS file. I am getting a warranty replacement for the phone and I'd like to erase the history in PDS Editor so that it doesn't show that I flashed the phone to solve a problem (which turned out to be a hardware issue).

How do I do this? I do NOT have an individual PDS backup, so I can't do the Undo feature. I just have the full backup.

Thanks!

Um no it's not. Cingular ASKED me to try to install the latest firmware. I didn't at that time but only later. However, I did make flex changes. I just want to erase the log. They even told me HOW to update the firmware.

Does anyone know how to do erase the history? Thanks.

there is a way of extracting the PDS from a full backup. I think the instructions are kicking around here at hofo. Check this...

Thanks for the link, but I know how to backup the PDS. I would like to know how to erase the history of Flashes and Flexes that are stored in the PDS.

Thanks!

It can be done using Flashbackup 2.62 -> PDS Editor.
Simply download PDS to file and flash PDS with the file.

Ok again. I know how to backup the PDS file and restore it. I want to EDIT it to remove the history of flexes and flashes and then restore it to the phone.

Again: How do you EDIT a PDS file to remove the history of flexes and flashes?

Thanks!

Maybe you could try this method..by simply install different version V3 firmware for >3x (i think PDS can only keep 3x history).....

So what left in your PDS is different version of upgrade, which Cingular wont able to argue on that it was upgrade by them previously.

Just my 2 cents.

I tried that but it still shows the flex versions that were added. Besides, stamped on my phone is the firmware that was on here. I have everything backed up. I would just like to know how to edit the PDS file to eliminate the history mainly for educational purposes.

Thanks again!

Btw, my V3 is dead from a bad flash in the bootloader I believe. I'm attempting to use ramldr to restore it. I hope it works. It is going into the bootloader mode according the ramldr but no other software has been capable of fixing the problem. I think the phone was somehow erased. I made the backup with FlashBackup.

bump...anyone?

I dont think you can...even when I restore a PDS of an easiler day, it still shows all the firmwares I have flashed and whatnot.

Then where is the information stored?

i DIDNT tell you to do PDS BACKUP but open and save pds to file (64kb) using PDS EDITOR inside FLASH BACKUP

Firstly, I have one question: WHY? It does not matter that you've done updates to the flash or flex, nor does it void your waranty. My guess is that you think Cingular or Motorola is going to either say you voided your warranty by updating the flash and/or flex or by doing SEEM edits. They won't.

And secondly, I do not believe you can do this, even with a PDS editor, since it's protected/encrypted.

Flashbackup PDS Editor,
Extract your PDS from the Full backup file, then roll the history of seems 1C3,1C4,1C5,1C6,1C7 back to "0" and reinstall the edited PDS back to the phone It will remove all history.
