If you look through the file system you'll see that its all thrown together from multiple carriers and phones...On a bell razr you have a bit of alltel, verizon etc. Maybe some razr does have radio.

That option is in most if not all the mma files since the v300 days. There was an adapter for the Vxxx series that had a radio attachment but there is not one for the V3.

It looked like this for the Vxxx series phones:

hm. i see, so do you think with an adaptor it can be done or not? if I splice all the wires and repin it.

so if i got to work you wanna know?

Posted by: chick1440@hotma

yes but i cant see this possible as the v3 cant pick up the radio waves unless that attachment does..... and even if you were able too wouldnt them attachments be on sale for the v3.....?

The big "blob" in the middle contains the tuner/volume control. The only thing the radio function on the phone does is presents an interface to the tuner and, perhaps, stores the presets. Oh, and the phone battery powers the radio.

It works relatively well on my V635 and V557 (and when I had them, my V400 and V551), but the "GSM buzz" gets annoying after a while.

I have doubts about translating those pins to a 4-pin mini-USB connection. And I really doubt that the old radio software (which, as djdownhill states, has been around forEVER) will be listening on any of those mini-USB pins. But hey, If you think Motorola's holding out on you, go ahead and cut one up and see what happens...

unless motorola is holding out? just like we can unlock all the features in seem editing ect. just say, Motorola never mentioned unlimited video recording, convert to mpeg instead of 3gp, you get what I'm saying, I think if its there, then its supported once someone finds out how to do enable it, I'm gonna try, re-wire a head set like the one shown above and see if I can enable it, I had already done all the modding thing aso creating DRM, skin files ect. now I gonna take up this challenge and spend a few bucks and see, thanks though for trying to persuade me that it can't be done, but I'm sure someone told anyone here who created these tools and files for us that it couldn't be done at all at one time. even my wife never doubts me.

you got it, they are holding out, if I get it running, I'll submit what pins and how it was done, BTW I do listen to my wife when its about doing laundry, but nothng else.

You might wanna look at a map. I live a couple towns over from Schaumburg, IL. You know, Motorola's HQ. I have reasons for my doubts But as I said, it's YOUR money and time, not mine.

And I never had any doubts about tweaking the SOFTware...

I don't get you HYTRAN? either you live next to it or you work for them, let me know, if you know excatly what its built out of, get to the point if its made for radio or not, living next to mtorola doen't mean you created or know what the V3 can do, share man! if you know excatly what you know about it, sure we all spend our usless time here and modding, so I'll do it, if there is a way to enable whats hidden, I live a few blocks from a Police station, but wtf, it doen't make me a COP! crazy!!!!!!! way to show you are good huh.

It is not going to work on the V3. Someone posted it here already. There is no radio inside the V3 or V3i. You want a portable radio then Buy one.

Posted by: Paolo

the radio is not contained inside the v3, but if you modify a usb cable from a v400/600 to a razr, since it only uses 4-5 pins, it mite just work, though i have not had the chance to try or test it since i dont want to wastea perfectly good mini usb b connector for that.

does the cable have a tuner? if so then the V3 don't need to have a radio, but some power to the system or cable.

Posted by: Akanaz

I had a pen once, it had a battery in it, the fm radio need the power to run, it had a tuner in it, the pen was made for this fm earphone. now if the selection for radio on the V3 was to rout the power to the earphone that has a tuner, then what?

Posted by: Akanaz

then you would have radio. if the razr don't have a fm software in it. thanx DJ for clarifing no radio in a V3, then this route should do it.

Posted by: Paolo

none of the moto phones have the radio actually in them, the radio was self contained inside the headset wiring...

thats what I thought. now chopping up the wires and I shall see if I can get it to power up with or without selecting radio on the V3.
