V3i and P2kMan

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've followed the instructions on xlr8.us/hofo on the install of MPT and P2kMan. But, for some reason, I can't get P2kMan to prompt me for the driver installation. Everytime I open it, it just sits there and says disconnected. Am I missing something here? I've already set my usb default connection to data/fax on the v3i.

Thanks.

Theres a massive thread step by step to get your phone connected to p2k programs but the forum is down. but basically you get rid of all motorola drivers and you start from scratch. go to the device folder and select your phone and then update the drivers for the v3i. you can get the drivers in the dvr folder in p2ktools.

Can someone give more detail on how to do that or link us to the original thread? I tried searching for it but couldn't find it.

Thanks!

Well it's probably best not to post those links here, but I have a few of those threads linked to from my starting out page on my v3i site.

I'm having this same problem.

Well, actually, after I get rid of all motorola drivers, then go to the device folder and select my phone and then update the drivers from the dvr folder in p2ktools, my computer sees my phone...no problem.

Then, when I go to open P2kMan, it says "failed to find p2k device". However, when I set my phone on BL mode, P2kMan opens just fine. However, instead of connecting, it says:

Receiving file list...USB: IO Time-out!
CMD: Data write fail!
Fail!

Can someone please help?

The v3i and the newer version of p2kman don't play well together. There is an older version of it that will interface with the multiple drives on the phone.

Why not just use P2kTools? It's so much easier to navigate multiple drives.

Well...the reason I don't use P2kTooks is because I have problems with that as well. When I go to "seem editor" and click on "load from phone", nothing happens. seems like p2k anything just isn't working for me

Ok...I think I've come to the conclusion that the reason I can't get my phone to work with P2k Tools is because my P2k Tools file is messed up. I don't seem to have a "connection issue". The issue seems to be with the actual file. I've tried downloading it from 3 different sites and all three seem to have the same problem.

The program doesn't recognize my phone when in normal mode. But, when on BL mode, it says something like file error or access denied or something like that. Basically, I get an error message that says P2k Tools has to shut down. When I just open the program, then close it, an error message pops up and asks me if I want to send an error report.

Any suggestions???? Please???

well p2ktools will be able to see both drives in your v3i. P2kman was originally for the vxxx series as those phones only had the a: drive. P2kman will see the a: and c: drive, but won't display the contents

1st off, delete all previous drivers that you have installed or tried installing manually(MPT drivers), then if your phone has a memory card,it will have the option in your phone USb setting to swith from Memory card to data/fax modem.Select Data/modem, and connect your phone to any usb port on your PC. You should be alerted of any new hardware, depending on OS(Windows 98,ME,2000,XP). With XP as my guideline, You should be promted for the drivers, and if for some reason it didn't, open p2ktools,and click connect,it will take a while then ask for the drivers.

Note: the drivers you're looking for (p2ksys) are in the p2ktools folder.

I did all those things already. Like I mentioned, I think my problem is I have a corrupt P2kTools file.
