Could someone please explain in detail the best way to move data from a Sprint Treo 650 to a Sprint Treo 700p. I heard the best way is to rename my user profile, etc... If this is the best way, please explain the steps in detail. On the other hand, am I better off just HotSyncing the new phone with my old user profile? Thanks!

Good question that I would like to know as well. My 700p should be here tomorrow so how do I keep all the contacts that I have in my 650? Will the Palm desktop allow me to export them and then just import them back in when I get everything installed? I'm at work so don't have the Palm desktop in front of me right now....

i dont see why not... just like when i had the treo 180 or 270 or 600 and now 650.. they all came with the program to convert the data base with no problems.. i dont see why not for the 700p.. 700w i dono.. but 700p should be the same as well..

Hello,

This is Kevin from Palm. Instructions for upgrading from a previous device are given in the User Guide. The PDF is available here. Its link is along the right-hand side of the page. You can look at it online or save it to your computer. Upgrade instructions are on pages 27-29 (I imagine the same instructions are in the hard copy of the Guide). If you're upgrading from a previous device and plan on continuing to use that previous device, there's mention of this procedure on page 29. I recommend looking over the Guide from the beginning, that way everything will be in context when you get to the upgrade instructions.

Someone please help me with my new 700p. the little status/indicator light on the top left corner of the phone is not one. on my 650 it would blink every 5 secs or so when standing by, and when i missed a call or had an alert it would blink quicker....but currently my phone light is not doing anything. is there a certain setting somewhere in the phone that i need to change. i cant find it anywhere and i contacted palm and they dont have a clue. they had my do a hard reset and that was their only recourse for it. any help?

Hello jdip23,

Do you have a Sprint phone? Your device’s indicator light should blink green when you have a new alert. This way, you can be aware of new alerts even if the screen is off.
By popular demand, the indicator light no longer blinks green when the phone is in standby.

thanks for the reply...that sucks that the phone doesnt blink in standby anymore. i liked that.
