H.264 on Cingular 8125

Hey guys.

Just got my 8125 (199.99 with car charger+tax from Cingular store. I love it!) and I want to play H.264 .mov files.

I know about the TCMPC player, but it still does not play h.264 compressed material.

How do I achieve this?

Also, when I uninstalled the TCMPC player for the first time, the icon is still in my programs folder. How do i get rid of it?

Bump for some help.

i actually do not think there's any way to play apple/quicktime compressed movies on the 8125 unless there's some secret codec that has been hiding out in an underground tunnel.. because i'd also love to know how to do it.. either h.264 or sorensen 3 codec movies would be sweet.

You need convert them into WMV on your PC before send to 8125 to play. 8125 is not powerful enough to decode h.264 and playback. Hence there is no codec for it.

H.264 is not only Apple, it's an open standard of MPEG4 that Apple just happens to use (same with AAC).

That being said, it needs some fairly beefy horsepower to decode (as well as encode). I'd doubt if many handhelds can decode it. IIRC the Video iPod has a dedicated processor for video decoding (it's aprt of the Portal Player or Sigmatel chip).

Best bet is to transcode to regular old MPEG4.

Thanks for the info. I ended up doing that yesterday. I have plenty of ways to convert files so I'll just do that from now on.

Thanks guys.

have you tried using tcmp with there codec. (acc codec)

ACC is sound. AVC is video. The AVC codec does not work with Version 6.
