No one knows if it will have WiFi or not the FCC hasn't release all of the specs yet, but the fact that it have an airplane mode instead of the regular wireless off and on is interesting

June 6th is when we'll have all the details from the FCC

If it doesn't have wi-fi, it's going to be a major bummer.

Many Blackberry's like the 7250/7290/ and even the Tmobile 8700G have the ability to turn 'wireless off'~! This means Danger is fully recognizing that ppl will be using the full calendar/phone/book/ & quite possibly the offline compose email ability of the SK3!

I also noticed BLUETOOTH in the first menu & Memory Card in the submenu of settings. Nice Touches RIM nice touches.

It's Danger, not RIM.

Prom1, what are you talking about? The SK2 has Wireless on/off, it doesn't have airplane mode. Were you saying Danger finally realized that wireless on/off was important, or were you saying that they realized airplane mode is important? I'm confused. BTW you posted the same thing twice.

Um...What is the difference between wireless on/off, and Airplane Mode?

No, I don't think there is any. It's just a name they were able to give it now.

No one can say what the difference is until we are told what it actually is.

I meant Danger finally know the importance of Airplane Mode! And I didnt think the Danger was a whales **** buddy! I administer Blackberry's daily on a low level, and I've worked 11 months at tmobile from the SK Color transition to the SK II; check the post I made about the photo with MC Hammer & the Danger representative within this forum.

BTW, there is a difference between Wireless Off & Airplane Mode. BUT the nominclature is used frivolously.

1) Wireless Off Allows: Saving Phone numbers, navigate phone, create emails and put in outbox until 'wireless on' is set for GPRS activations. etc.

2) Airplane mode allows: you to browse Saved Pages, do everything in #1 above, even edit saved web page content, play music, take/save photos exchange content using another medium (wired or wireless). This last few things are MAJOR things the SKII and others before in from Danger could NOT do (take/save photos an exception; web cannot remember). Another exception is BB's use the Wireless nominclature but the can do all but 1 of the above ... no camera for photos' but it doesnt stop it from using Bluetooth to receive/send photos ... yes there is a little known hack for it too ... I've seen it personally done on an 8700 but I even question if it was another device in the shell.

it is basically the same thing...you wont see both options on the same phone. Airplane mode is just the radio turned off in the phone same for Wireless mode off.

Posted by: jgeorge

It seems to me that "Airplane Mode" has become pretty traditional terminology on phones to turn the radio off to comply with FAA regulations. I really doubt there's that subtle level of distinction - on *any* handset.

Then tell me why the upcoming P990 has the ability to have WiFi connection in Wireless Off mode; or most of the recent PocketPC Mobile 5 edition devices?

Devices without WiFi connection will show Airplane mode ... BB devices are the only ones that I know of that state Wireless OFF instead but still have no WiFi (7270 is the exception because its a WiFi only device using PBX for VoIP calls).
