Motorola External Display only half working

I have a motorola V3 and since I got it the external display hasn't worked properly. The top half displays a black background with 4 red lines (when opened or closed) and the bottom half displays my internal background and the time in digital format. Is there any way of fixing this? or is the external display permanently damaged?

PS: If anyone could point me in the direction of a thread / reply to this question that is already posted that would be perfect (I have throughly searched and not found)

the sub lcd needs to be replaced, only motorola or its authorized technicians can do this... that would mean you would have to send in your phone in to a service centre... It happened on my very first RAZR, I even watched the Technician fix it, he had to take appart the entire screen to replace the tiny little sub display and put a new one in.. its also lots of possibility for dust to enter your phone when thats happening, thankfully he did a good job and not one spec of dust got in the phone.
