AOL Mail with Treo 700w, new mail becomes old

I noticed after I set up my AOL e-mail acct on my Treo 700w, that once mail is retrieved on the handheld, instead of being new mail when I check my AOL mail on the PC, it becomes old mail, under the Old Mail Tab. Is there a way to keep new mail indeed new, despite me checking it on the Treo without deleting it?
